I read that earlier and wasn't surprised. It's been that way for years, hasn't it?

I've just noticed this year that FOX is the only one that runs news shows 24 hours now. Some are running 20 year old Forensics Files shows, some have devolved to infomercials.

"Independent voters also choose Fox News first, over MSNBC with a 26 percent to 4 percent margin. The broadcast networks came in at 17 percent, while CNN draws a total of 16 percent from those viewers."

Here's a good MSNBC spin job, “Now, of course, the argument could be made that MSNBC’s just trusted by the fewest because of exposure. CNN and Fox are much bigger household names; and broadcast networks are still the dominant news outlets in the ratings."

In other words... content of news and commentary might have next to nothing to do with it.

There's nothing terrifying about this. It's not too hard to figure and reinforces what I've said for years. Conservatives trust TV news more than do liberals, and they watch Fox more than the other networks. This doesn't necessarily mean that Fox is more trustworthy. Progressives understand that the values shared at the top most level of the six media conglomerates are not compatible with the liberal point of view, leading to natural distrust. IMO, most people who do trust TV news, regardless of political bent, choose networks based on which reinforces their already held opinions, and not which gives the most unbiased reports.

No, I won 't shoot the messenger, however deserving in light of the snarky subtitle; Salon is only reporting the results of a recent Quinnipiac U. poll - and revealing its basic misunderstanding of Americans.

Good show, MSNBC! Looking good at last!

Not that I am "picking" on Metta8, but I would like to point out that the Metta8 account does this quite a bit. Why, I don't know but several possibilities come to mind.

That is my thread in question and I noticed this. I think Metta8 has an insatiable desire to start threads rather than contribute to existing threads. It tends to discourage others from starting threads when they are quickly pushed down by the Metta8 threads.

I once raised the possibility of implementing a forum mechanism to limit each account to starting, say 5 threads, per day in a single folder. In other words, limiting threads on a per folder basis. It might encourage more discussion.
