What does it mean when a guy says you're cute?

I know this may sound a little stupid but I was wondering what it meant if a guy says your cute... like is there a deeper meaning than just your appearance?
Because guys tell me all the time that they think i'm 'cute' and to me that's not very much of a compliment. Like they don't say I'm nice, hansom or beautiful, or whatever they just say I'm 'cute'.
So does this have a deeper meaning or do they just think I'm nice enough or something like that?

It's a compliment. Relax and accept it.

Then, save this skill for when they start calling you "Daddy." icon_eek.gif

So is it offensive to call someone big, muscular, masculine, or older "cute"?

Because I find some of them very cute.

It's a compliment for endearing diminutive sort of things like plush toys, puppies, small children and babies. The sort of things one larger and stronger feels protective of.

At my size and age I laugh when someone calls me cute and believe it or not it does happen.

I've had it said to me regarding looks, attitude, behavior or the whole package. I don't think you should analyze it, take it as a compliment, better than being told the opposite.

i hate to sound ungrateful, but it's always annoyed me when people say that to me. from my perception (which i know can be way off), it feels like a term that is too similar to "cute-sy"....i.e. kind of baby-ish. somehow less manly...

There was a thread on this some time back. Totally surprised me because I always thought it to be a compliment. If I say it to a guy, I certainly mean it as a compliment. To me, cute means good looking, slightly off-beat in a good way, maybe a tad boyish, certainly sexy, and usually fit in the sense of a soccer player vs a football athlete. Handsome to me means kind of a classical good looks like a model which really does't appeal to me nearly as much.

**To all those who I've accidentally insulted by calling them cute, my humble apologies.

LOL! Yes, and don't be surprised if it's accompanied by, "I bet you were cute when you were young!"

    hey Tik
I don't know about other places, but mostly in India
    (hope you also know this)
this term "cute" is used for a bit femme, childish, or a submissive who likes
his dominant partner call him cuty
That's mostly what I have seen around happening
    .
myself I don't like to be called cute
    anyway . take care

It's definitely meant as a compliment, in my opinion. I have a very good-looking straight friend and a lot of girls have said he's "cute" and "hot", so I definitely think "cute" is a less-direct or more innocent way of saying "hot".

Cute is a compliment. Some guys have the mentality of saying this as *You're cute ** but not hot enough to sleep with. icon_redface.gif

It's a compliment, equivalent to saying a person is good looking or VGL, but not as good a compliment as being called "hot" or "beautiful."

People call other people 'cute' a lot more than they hand out the 'hot' or 'beautiful' card. Gorgeous is a synonym for beautiful, but much less used.

    The order is:

    Attractive
    Cute
    VGL
    Handsome
    Hot
    Beautiful/gorgeous

It's a compliment on your appearance - generally reserved for the young. Accept and enjoy it. You won't hear it when you are 35.

I always got the cute word too. I believe some guys really say it as compliment. but some cute might be mid, I can feel that they just don't want to say they loved you or you are hot, then they say you are cute. And which means they like you but not really into you.
