Any of my fellow RJ members follow minor league baseball? If so, what team? Here in NEPA we have the Rail Riders.

I'll go to a Brooklyn Cyclones game now and then. Stadium is near the beach at Coney Island. The roller coaster runs in the background over the centerfield fence. Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs nearby.

I don't "follow" a team, I just go to the game for the fun and for the ballpark food (hot links and garlic fries).

I have two choices, a triple-A team and a double-A team. The double-A team is the Stockton Ports, part of the Oakland Athletics, and the triple-A team is the Sacramento River Cats, part of the San Francisco Giants.

The River Cats are definitely more fun to watch. The fans at the Ports are rather uninvolved and seem to be there just to get drunk, what few of them there are. So I've stopped going to Ports games.

Interestingly, this year the River Cats switched from being under the Oakland Athletics to being under the San Francisco Giants. So now we'll get to see the National League teams when they're the visitors.

Another venue for baseball games are colleges. You really get to sit close to the action and the players are much more involved and interact with each other. Although perhaps they are as well at major league games but you can't see or hear it, but you really can at college games.

That would be great. Talk about iconic Americana!

I know what you mean; when I lived in NYC I would catch a couple games a year at the Staten Island Yankee’s. The view of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty from the out field, it’s really cool.
