Presbyterian governance has a system of four courts: session, presbytery (regional), synod ("State" level, and general assembly (entire denomination). This story, while of interest, is about a relatively small cog in the works.

It is definitely a step in the right direction no matter how you cut it.

I didn't catch any shit when I came out to the Presbyterian church in 1970 so I wouldn't expect much of an issue now.

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Embraces LGBT-Inclusive Definition Of Marriage

America’s largest Presbyterian denomination has announced a change to its constitution that allows for a more inclusive definition of marriage.

Officially called Amendment 14-F, the new wording in the denomination’s Book of Order will describe marriage as being “between two people.”

The Presbyterian Church has always had a very liberal element to it. The church donated money for the defense of Angela Davis in the 1970's, causing a huge outcry amongst congregants (including my parents). (Davis was a member of the Communist Party who was charged with murder in the death of a Marin County judge who had been kidnapped from his courtroom).

For a contrary take on the twee politically-correct Presbyterian view of sexuality see Camille Paglia's somewhat dated but still hilarious "The Joy of Presbyterian Sex."
