DIET coke, that is!! LOL icon_razz.gif

Seriously, has anyone ever had this symptom: A few days after stopping diet coke consumption cold-turkey, I had an odd feeling in my esophagus, almost like the peristalsis was working in reverse. Only one side was affected, it feeling like a tickle or maybe a bubble of gas caught and trying to come up.

Suffice it to say, I scheduled a doctor appointment as soon as I can get in.

Meanwhile, today after it seeming to worsen while running the vac and strenuous house cleaning (bending over, etc) , I said the WTF and drank 2 ounces of Diet Coke.

Symptoms disappeared for 2 hours! Hmmm.

I'm keeping tabs on the symptoms and daily diet to take to my doctor, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this odd feeling?

Yuck… all 'soda's', coke, pepsi, on and on are gross. Diet versions are even worse...
Drink carbonated lemon/lime flavour water. It gives that throat burn just like pop. icon_smile.gif You can thank me later… lol.

Diet sodas are absolute POISON. Ween yourself off that shit ASAP. Stopping cold turkey will give you flu-like symptoms but if you reduce your intake gradually you will be able to get off it. Force yourself to drink small amount of it each day (even if you don't want it), but each week reduce the amount until you can skip a day, then skip two day and so on. It will take 3-4 weeks to do it. You can also start replacing every other Coke with one or more of these:

This will do two things.....they will get more water into your body and the carbonation will help satisfy that nice burning feeling in your throat that can become so addicting as well. All of the flavors are extremely subtle but tasty. Just avoid the Peach/Pear.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not a coke-addicted person. icon_lol.gif

I simply got in the habit of drinking some of one a day. Usually it sits in the can or soda cup and goes flat and gets poured out.

I miss Tab! I miss saccharin! At least that stuff wasn't the poison that aspartame is.

Mainly I drink bottled water or iced tea. (LOVE the mango-flavored iced tea they serve at the resort I stay in in Key West! I'm stealing their recipe this time, even if I have to sleep with the cook...and she's not too bad looking! LOL)icon_eek.gif
