Isn't Netanyahu's center-left Zionist Union rival being advised by President Obama's former consultant? Oh the irony.

Oh I hope Bibi falls hard.I have a lil more hope that younger Americans are waking up to the stranglehold Israel has on US politics and the destructive effect the Mideast Conflict has on world affairs.

Oh, dear, ExMil, this is almost like a convention of RJ's Anti-Semites flocking to the honeypot. The criticisms above aren't of Netanyahu, just use him as an excuse to attack Israel.

Consider that no one even addressed your comment, reproduced here in toto:

RoadRageRob, for example, hated Israel/Jews even prior to Netanyahu's election, saying that "Jews have it coming", "Jews are international troublemakers" and that "Jews need to learn a hard lesson". Now we get this:

roadrageRob saidGetting rid of a bloodthirsty, trouble making hard liner like Bibi Netanyahu will be the best thing to happen in the Middle East.

ROTFL. Never mind Assad, Hizbullah, Khamenei, Hamas, ISIS....

    Here's another example:
WickedRyan saidOh I hope Bibi falls hard.I have a lil more hope that younger Americans are waking up to the stranglehold Israel has on US politics and the destructive effect the Mideast Conflict has on world affairs.

Really? Israel has a "stranglehold" on "US politics"? If true, did that just start with Bibi? Or would it remain true even if Herzog is the next Prime Minister?

Could the perception that American politicians overwhelmingly support Israel be a reflection of the fact that Americans, the electorate, overwhelmingly support Israel?

Israel has little to nothing to do with many of the mideast's problems (Syria, Iran, Iraq, ISIS, Afghanistan or turmoil in North Africa), indeed it is a spot of stability in the region.

Why blame Israel for "the [alleged] destructive effect of the Mideast Conflict on world affairs"? The Arab parties started the violence, the wars, and with few exceptions have rejected peace initiative after initiative (ironically, when Egyptian President Sadat finally accepted UNSCR 242, which established the "land for peace" formula - a decade after Israel did, he found a ready, willing and able peace partner in Israel under Menachem Begin, its furthest right prime-minister (at that time and perhaps ever).

AyaTrollah merry-go-round-of-lies pouncer will attempt to reopen debates on the above, but there are already threads dedicated to them:

Clearly there are reasons to dislike or disagree with this one politician (the majority of Israelis will not vote for him or his party), but most critics in such forums couldn't tell you more than 2 things about Netanyahu's policies. He has simply become an effigy for expressing their hate of Israel/Jews.

There is a long history of this. The term "Anti-Semitism" was invented (by Jew haters) in the late 19th century as a scientific-sounding euphemism when hating Jews just because they were Jews was questioned during the enlightenment. In the late 20th century, we saw "anti-Zionism" as a political sounding euphemism meaning the same thing (Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their ancient homeland. Anti-Zionism means not opposition to some Israeli policies, but opposition to its existence, usually based on the belief that Jews aren't worthy of self-determination). These clever-by-half fools think no one notices when they change the noun from "Jews control the Banks/Media/Hollywood/Congress" to "Zionists control the Banks/Media/Hollywood/Congress", or that "Zionists poison wells" instead of the historic "Jews poison wells".

I suppose that if Netanyahu wins (or comes in 2nd but can form a coalition) that we'll be hearing "Netanyahu controls the Banks/Media/Hollywood/Congress" and "Netanyahu poisons wells".

WAAAAY too early, at 0850 PDT, to predict the outcome. I hope Bibi wins both the popular vote and a majority in the Knesset, but will certainly respect the will of the Israelis however they vote.

I am not a Jew and I have never been Israel. But it is quite obvious to me that ultra Orthodox Jews have a plan to take over Israel by having huge numbers of children,So each election will show more and more gains for the settler in the occupied territories etcThis is a far cry from the more secular Israel of the 1960's and 70's.

What then is the source of your obviousness?

How does Israel's ultra Orthodox population today, as a percentage of the total, compare to 50 years ago?

What percentage of the Jews living in the disputed territories are ultra Orthodox?

Bibi won, but it's not a clean, satisfying victory. His eleventh hour racist cries helped him to win the election, but they were also heard around the world. Bibi has effectively begun the alienation of Israel from the rest of the world. Every nation is in more danger now than it was yesterday. Any sanctions against Iran will weaken, Iran will have "the bomb," the GOP and Israel will have the war it so desperately wants, more American lives will be lost fighting wars in the Middle East (and the Dems will be blamed for it by Fox News).

Yes, it's all working according to plan.

At this point, all we need to do is sit back and watch the diseased dogs rip each other to shreds at the expense of humanity.

    Natanyahu a racist?

You do realize that every grade school science textbook in Arabic teaches Jews are descended from dogs and that the "rest of us" nonbelievers are descended from monkeys, don't you? You can go on youtube and catch Arabic kiddie TV programming teaching toddlers that Jews steal babies, kill and then eat them.

Here's you some real middle eastern racism

You non-thinking liberals who toss the word 'racist' around as all all purpose noun for anything you don't like. No one but your fellow liberals believes you anymore when they hear you use it.

So much for the dire predictions of the MSM and those others who so wished for Bibi's defeat. Interesting to note that on the western editions of last night's evening news, the Big 3 networks and PBS continued to describe the Israeli election as a "dead heat" even after Bibi had declared victory. Now, of course, with a meal of crow and humble pie set before them, they're ruefully prefacing their reporting of the election's actual results with attacks on what they call "Israel's hard right." Here's Reuters' take:

    http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-claims-victory-israel-election-hard-shift-010230595.html

Not to be outdone, Obama has retreated into another one of his huffs; his WH spokestool congratulated only "the Israeli people," not the man who will continue to lead them. When asked for his reaction to Bibi's win, SOS Kerry initially replied, "No comment," before later reportedly congratulating Bibi personally. Real class, true gentlemen both. And such visionary, world class leaders, too!

Now, let's see just how much in taxpayer funds Obama funneled overseas in his foolhardy attempt to sway the Israelis from doing the right thing.

Its to fulfill their second coming of "oh christ" icon_rolleyes.gif

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true, by the very terms of the prophecy itself, due to positive feedback between belief and behavior.

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”
    ― Adolf Hitler

"War Pigs" (the anti war rock song)

    Generals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses.
    Evil minds that plot destruction,
    Sorcerer of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning.
    Death and hatred to mankind,
    Poisoning their brainwashed minds.
    Oh lord yeah!

    Politicians hide themselves away,
    They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight,
They leave that all to the poor.

    Yeah!

Time will tell them they are Power Blind,
    Making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait till their judgment day comes.

    Yeah!

Now in darkness world stops turning,
    Ashes where the bodies burning.
No more war pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgment God is calling,
On their knees the war pig's crawling.
    Begging mercies for their sins,
    Satan laughing spreads his wings.

    Oh lord yeah!

The Middle East situation would get a lot better if the whole world, and particularly the Arabs, took to heart a little ancient history, as well as the words of the title song to the movie of Leon Uris's book Exodus: "This land is mine, God gave this land to me...."

There was an Israel before there was a Roman Empire. The Jews have suffered discrimination for millennia at the hands of the various lands of the world, culminating with the atrocities of the Nazis. In spite of this they have maintained a thriving culture in whatever land to which they have been disbursed. The world has benefited disproportionately from the scientific and mathematical and artistic minds of the Jewish people. (Ever check out the Nobel list, for just one example?) The basic moral fact is that the world owes the Israel to the Israelis. This is an unique (no, one may not and cannot compare the adjective "unique) situation. Get over it!

The term Palestine/Palestinians itself as currently meant was an invention of the early 20th century. The Palestine problem primarily seems to be that huge numbers of the Palestinians have sat in refugee camps for the past almost 70 years doing nothing but breeding children they don't have the means to educate or support and to launch terrorist attacks against Israel. Most of the other Middle East nations don't actively support the existence of Israel, a reality which they really do need to accept. Their own social ills are not a result of Israel but of their own pervasive inabilities to get on in a civilized manner with each other, (and reflecting that their last great contribution to the intellectual world was the invention of Arabic numerals the world now uses. OK! That is a cheap shot but somewhat deserved. When that prominent female Palestinian politician says she regrets she cannot bear more sons to be suicide bombers, having contributed two already, one really wonders....)

Until the right of Israel to exist in peace is recognized by the Arabs in the Middle East, and until the Arabs and the Persians learn to get along amongst one another, the undoubted unfairnesses which have occurred to some individual Arabs living in Israel will have to be tolerated as consequential to their own actions: unfortunately, rather than blaming the Israelis for their plight, they should look to their own community. As one small example: if you let your children throw rocks at Israeli policemen, a rock which when striking a temple can kill, do you really not believe greater force is not justified to stop the rock throwers, and an intelligent rock-thrower should thus learn not to throw rocks, or at least their parents should punish them for so doing? This principle seems to be opaque to the Palestinians.

Polls were wrong, as they often are.

Looks like the world is doomed to many more years of fighting between Palestinians and Israel, although the main opposition to Bibi was hardly pro-Palestinian - also proposing (as reported here) that more settlements be built on Palestinian land.
