Yes. And another triumph for US Right Wingers? Who deny gay bullying exists, or that anything should be done about it, blocking legislation to help resolve the crisis? This is but one reason why they so disgust me. And US RJers who support & vote for these guys bear some of the guilt.

As you've shown so many times, "you can't handle the truth."
Now, go pour yourself another jigger of personality.

And as you've shown so many times, you have no sympathy for a dead gay youth. Nor any interest in resolving the issues that cause these tragedies. On the contrary, you endorse them. But that's OK, just so long as we know who and what you are on this site.

What exactly will legislation accomplish? Most bullying is carried out by minors. Are we to start incarcerating (juvenile detention) minors for bullying? We all know what a deterrent and how rehabilitative incarceration is. icon_rolleyes.gif

Her mother, assuming she's older and wiser, should have warned her daughter about the cruelty of kids. She should have counseled her daughter to perhaps keep her status low key until she was older and more mature enough to handle the reality of others.

Is this fair? Of course not! But it is the reality of the world. Not everyone is as evolved. Not everyone is going to accept you and embrace you like your mom. We would all love to have the world accept and embrace us. That's the ideal. However, the reality is is that we all have to be prudent in what we reveal to others, whether it's to family, friends, coworkers, etc.

This poor young girl wasn't prepared and paid for it with her life.

03/10/2015 Texas Bill Would Create $2,000 Bounty for Turning in Transgender Students Found in Bathrooms

Texas lawmaker has filed a bill that would prohibit schools from allowing transgender students to use restrooms in accordance with their gender identity.

HB 2801, from GOP state Rep. Gilbert Pena (above), is similar to a bill that passed the Kentucky Senate last week.

The Republican-backed measure would forbid transgender students from using school bathrooms designated for the opposite biological sex. It counters a recent decision at Atherton that allowed a student who was born male — but identifies as female — to use the girls' bathroom and locker rooms.

Republican Sen. C.B. Embry, the bill's sponsor, calls it a "common sense" approach

The key is education, and laws which recognize bullying of all kinds, not just gay, and penalize it.

And yes, maybe juvenile bullies SHOULD be placed in detention centers. Not jail, but what we used to call "reform school".

Do you know how many kids you'd be turning into criminals with this? Your solutions are based on trying to childproof the world for sensitive kids. It makes much more sense to focus on the kids who can't process stress properly. Even after their school years, they will still have to deal with stress and people giving them a hard time.
