Obama stands strong: He doesn't congratulate Netanyahu, rather he rebukes him

Obama’s press secretary, Josh Earnest, reaffirmed the president’s belief in the two-state solution, and strongly condemned Netanyahu’s decision to rally support with incendiary remarks about a high turnout among Israeli Arab voters. Netanyahu used a 28-second video on election day to warn that Israeli Arabs were being bussed to the polls “in droves”.

“The United States and this administration is deeply concerned about rhetoric that seeks to marginalise Arab Israeli citizens,” Earnest said. “It undermines the values and democratic ideals that have been important to our democracy and an important part of what binds the United States and Israel together.”

He added: “Rhetoric that seeks to marginalise one segment of their population is deeply concerning, it is divisive, and I can tell you that these are views the administration intends to communicate directly to the Israelis.”

Netanyahu has been actively attempting to scuttle Obama's diplomacy that is designed to prevent a war with Iran. Diplomacy that is supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans. He all but explicitly endorsed Mitt Romney in the 2012 election, even as the American electorate handily rejected Romney and re-elected Obama. In other words, Netanyahu meddles in American domestic politics and he attempts to undermine American diplomacy, both in opposition to what the American people themselves want. And all Democrats and all Americans of conscience should heartily support President Obama for standing strong against Netanyahu's belligerent extremism.

No, thanks; I'll rely on Bibi's experience and expertise instead.

Backtracking on decades of peace negotiations? He's also backtracked on THAT. It appears he didn't really mean it. Let's just say he's muddied the issue. It was a Right Wing ploy to get out the Anti-Arab vote.

Netanyahu is the absolute worst type of scum bag politician.

He's smart, but basically he went out and screamed: "vote for me or the Arabs/Persians will bomb your babies"

    disgusting

I'm a lifelong supporter of Israel. My mother's family was on the ground, helped found the state. From that perspective alone, I think Netanyahu is a disaster for the state's long-term prospects as a safe, Jewish democracy.

The truest thing I ever read about Israel is this: the country can be:

    *Jewish
    *A Democracy
*In control of the Occupied Territories

It can have any two of those three it wants. But only two. The more I think about this, the more sense it makes.

Refusing to choose is also making a choice, and not a good one.

Agreed. I'll also add this, I didn't care for Congress essentially providing him a forum for this political stunt and photo ops for ad campaigns. Even if Obama had agreed to it, or organized it--which Obama didn't and Obama opposed the visit--I wouldn't have been on board.

I don't like the idea of my capital being used as a photo op for another foreign government politician--incumbent or otherwise. It's insulting to our institution, the office, and our country.

Bibi essentially turned us into a red carpet and tacky background. No thanks:

Israel is "the Jewish homeland", but it's a secular state. Arab-Israeli citizens are afforded the same rights as Jews - actually more since military service isn't mandatory (unless they're Druze, but that's not technically Arab...)

I wouldn't say "in control of [Yehuda and Shomron]". They administer them, sure, but except for a smattering of villages, the PA runs the show.

Obama stands strong against ally Israel as he cedes Yemen to Islamic Terrorists and wastes $500 million.
