I have done the obligatory YouTube search and watched Anthony Bourdains The Layover I like what I see, however I was wondering if anyone one here has some first hand experience on what to do or see.
I have a layover of six and a half hours and one of just over nine hours to work with. I will be at the international airport so that will add some travel time.

TPE is quite nice place you can visit around. But the airport is a bit far and take time to go. around 6usd by skybus from Taipei train station or get a cab usually asking 1000ntd which is around 30usd. It usually takes an hour and heavy traffic. Hope you enjoy your trip.

Hmm... Depends on what time are you visiting. you might get the cheapest prepaid data sim at the airport which is not expensive at all. I remember I paid 20 bucks for a week. taiwanese don't really speak English. they don't really know what I want even I can speak a bit mandarin. So you might need data for Google map and translate. You can go to Taipei 101 the highest tower or Ximen is a great place to go anytime for shopping or eating, and there are gay bars and gay toy shops too. One suggestion here, just go where metro can take you.

I am aware of this. I fat fingered this and posted to an unintended category. Oh well.
