Not surprised about The U.S. that was pretty much a given.
Also Australia I wasn't surprised about considering how much steroid abuse goes on in so many local gyms, often encouraged by actual personal trainers.
I don't know that for a fact really, but my cousin lived in Australia for 6 years and he told me he kept gym hopping because there were so many personal trainers that kept encouraging him to use steroids, so he kept leaving the gym until he found legit personal trainers.

Fun fact about the tattoos in the UK and it's so true because my cousin lived in the UK for 8 years before relocating back home and when she got married, almost all of her guests had tattoos lol.
Korea was also not surprising, you just need to watch a k-pop video and you already know what their ideal of beauty is.

It's funny how the section of the "future" had a guy of mixed race but the quotation was just about mixed race faces.
For the most part it seemed like 'white' is still the aim (again not surprised), but I'm glad in the future it seems like it's becoming less about the colour of the skin and more about the actual look of the face.

Interesting how in more westernised societies hair is considered more attractive, and then in Turkey less hair is considered more attractive.
Where I work, the receptionist always says to me she wishes we could swap skin because she hates how pale she is and she likes how I'm brown.
I tell her how growing up in my family, we were always pushed to try become whiter skinned, often I was given whitening soap to get my skin whiter and I was always discouraged from being out in the Sun too long.

I just found it interesting to notice that sometimes what people commonly see around them in people can become unattractive.

All in all, I feel that most people who are somewhat cultured will find what the video said not that surprising although there are a few fun facts in it icon_smile.gif

Whenever I see vids like this I don't bother creating threads on them because I know someone else will get around to it.

To me true male beauty means resisting the MSN urge.

I don't know why S. Korea favors feminine looking men.

That Indian model wasn't all that. I've seen hotter Bollywood stars.

That was Steven Dehler representing Australia, although he's not Australian. I've seen him dancing in West Hollywood.

To be honest, none of the guys in that video were particularly appealing.
They weren't ugly but I didn't find any of them that attractive.
Maybe that was the point though, so that the view was of particular characteristics they were trying to portray without being unrealistic by using greek god male models.

Who knows but what I mostly liked about the video was the little fun facts on what nations generally thought was attractive.

I think the world standards could have been much better represented than what was offered

That was interesting but not surprising. The American, Korean, & Indian countries didn't surprise me but I was surprised about South Africa (then again, I forgot that it's mostly colonized).

The future one made me smile a bit because perhaps, in the future the race/skin color won't be that important.

I'd guess you probably like more bigger built guys? I mean, the Australian guy looked pretty big (well, bigger than all the other models present there) But eh, you know what they say, can't please everyone.

Tall dark and handsome has always been a standard of beauty in men. Not just in the United Statesicon_idea.gif

You know that whole "tall dark and handsome" thing has always got me so confused because when people post pictures of their idea of that, it still is mostly white men.
White men that either have gotten a tan or at most are naturally olive skinned but what is still mostly depicted are Caucasian features.

I feel like people use the word 'dark' to make themselves sound like they are open when really they aren't that open at all.

Anyway just something I noticed about that whole tall dark handsome thing.

Haha interesting, I saw and tipped Steven Dehler (Australia guy) a couple times at the Abbey in West Hollywood. He's not Aussie, he's American. I like the guys from Brazil, Australia, UK and the Philippines best. Mr. USA in that video is not that hot. Lol !! I think I just have a soft spot for Aussie dudes in general since I lost my virginity to a hot aussie 11 years ago. icon_redface.gif

No, my statement had nothing to do with the physical development of the men in the video. I've seen what I believe to be more attractive men then what was offered.

I thought the video was interesting since it's show's what some current men are thought of as attractive.
Below is more of a vintage idea of man...

My other half and I have a difference of opinion on what's attractive in a man. He likes classic features and I like odd things, like big features that make someone look unique.
Bigger lips, big ears, strong tuff looks, no so polished.
