Neil DeGrasse Tyson Has Some Choice Words For Anyone Who Votes For A Climate Denier

“I don’t blame the politicians for a damn thing because we vote for the politicians,” he said. “I blame the electorate.”

    ...

“Now we have a time where people are cherry picking science,” he said. “The science is not political. That’s like repealing gravity because you gained 10 pounds last week.”

Yeah! Let's stick with your old time regression! icon_biggrin.gif

"Gimme me that old time regression,
    That old time time regression.

Gimme me that old time regression,
    It's good enough for me."

Credit where it's due, Art. He has progressed from those big, daft, polychromatic fonts.

    An interesting article.
His point about the electorate is well made. In democracies we get the politicians/policies we vote for, and thus deserve; Appealing to our short term vanities seems the best way to get elected. They`re loath to tell the public it`s view might even be at least partly wrong. The media, too, seem to be giving up on educating people. It`s more about entertainment, or telling them what it thinks they`d like to know.
Here we`ve had similar problems with the BBC trying to be 'balanced' about climate change.

It's time we stop giving so much "equal time" to global warming deniers.

    Yes, I said global warming.

I AM angry at the electorate, but in their defense the news media is a fucking joke, and completely bought by fossil fuel money.

believe it or not the winds are slowly changin in the oddest of ways. Some of the oil companies have started investing money towards alternative energy source research. Even in the Middle East, the Eco-conscious sister of Dubai is rising from the sands with the EXPRESS intention of being a city built with the mindset that oil will someday run out.
Car companies, in response to CO2 taxes, have shown us amazing things (like Volvos new 2.0 Double-boosted hybrid four-banger that puts a total of 400hp down but has fuel economy comparable to a Honda Civic and releases less CO2 per km than a Mini Cooper)
Toyota is getting ready to bring to market the first mass-market, practical-use hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (the Honda FCX was only available for lease and was rumored to have a break-even market price of something in the realm of $200k.). Hydrogen, if you haven't figured it out yet, is what we will run our world on one day in terms of private automobiles and non-grid electrics.
The day that our federal required budget for education is even HALF of our military budget (it's currently something ridiculous, like 1/10 with the "discretionary" education budget around 1/5) is the day we can literally put all this nonsense behind us
