Somehow I managed to not add the response "wears an Apple Watch" on the "What is you're (sic) ultimate turnoff?" thread.

I'm going to be getting one later this summer.

It'll come in handy flying through the mountains at low altitudes.

For just flying, how does the Apple Watch compare to Garmin's D2 Pilot watch? Obviously the Apple Watch will be more functional in general since you can add apps to it.

You just answered your own question.

Plus it will be linked to Foreflight, which replaced my Garmin GPS, and I've already used it to fly across the US.

It's like having a Garmin 1000 (look it up) for 1/10 the price. icon_wink.gif

Apple CEO says the iWatch has a typical battery life of 18 hours.

that means YOU get 10hours so i see re charging the thingy on the work commute drive.

Lithium batteries being what they are, become unstable after a year of usage, un-reliable after 2 years, get the big gold version will you guys?

Sounds about right for the lifecycle of an Apple product.

Ok, so ignoring my "disinclination" to buy Apple products, I still don't see what the advantage is for this watch when you're flying. Specifically, why would you want to look at, squint at really, a tiny screen on your wrist when you could look at a big gps screen on the dashboard?

Maybe if your plane is big enough to get up and walk around in while you have it on autopilot? Otherwise I don't get it.

    lumpyoatmeal should know:
-All lithium batteries are built to last but only 1 or 2 years. the first 3 months you get the batteries you keep the charger is in the next room. Every month there after it creeps closer and closer. After a while you buy 2 chargers. Buy a cell phone, buy an Tesla, same decay curve.
-if Apple or Samsung were problematic we would call them BlackBerry. Same incremental technology, different wrapper.

It's an Android webzine so don't expect to be 100% unbiased. But some of the items are quite valid.

Item 11 obviously doesn't apply to gay men.

Item 9 would definitely be a problem for me; I always wear my watches on the inside of my wrist. Worn the regular way I've banged the face against something and scratched it.

Being paid the federal minimum wage for the amount of time it took to create that infographic would yield enough income to afford a gold Apple watch. But that designer would be lucky to even get a minimum wage job, seeing as his/her math is so sucky. Since when does 1,062 pizzas equate to 5 years of pizza every day? icon_lol.gif
