NYT: The governing process is already exposing cleavages within the Republican caucus, between those who want to increase military spending and those who want to reduce deficits. If the Republicans fail, it may well start to feel like 2013 all over again, with new showdowns over the debt ceiling or a potential government shutdown.

So far, Congress has had trouble creating the kind of crisp, predictable governance that businesses and markets hunger for.

The Republican Congress is a complete mess and people are already sick of it. This is a party that can't even get its members to vote for their own bills. Pathetic.
Next stop on this train wreck is the impending government shutdown over the budget. It worked out so well for Republicans last time, right?

As with the Democratic majority a couple years ago, it isn't large enough to be filibuster proof. Reid had to change the Senate rules to get presidential nominees confirmed.

The Republicans do seem like a herd of cats. Reid and Pelosi had much better party discipline.
