Not sure if this is in the correct category. Anyway, I used to cruise in Central Park's Ramble about 10 years ago bit I stopped going because the police presence there was overwhelming and I didn't want to get arrested for sex in public places and/or indecent exposure. It would be devastating for me to get arrested for that since I'm not out to my family. I witnessed with my own eyes many guys in there getting arrested for having sex in the bushes. My question is, does anyone by any chance know if police presence there is still the same or has it changed? I'm thinking about going back when the weather warms up soon, but I'm afraid of cops there. Any info on how the Rambles are now? Last time I went was in 2005.

Also, I've been hearing that Fort Tryon Park in upper Manhattan is amazing in terms of cruising. I've never been to that park for that purpose, only been there during the daytime to ride my bike or just to relax, but never at night for cruising. Any info about cruising there

Not me dude. I ride the trains because I have to, not to look for guys. There's plenty of places to find gay guys. Yes I've met guys on the train before but they we're looking at me first. And I don't stare at guys on the train and if I do, I do discreetly, I don't make it obvious. Your comment was disrespectful and ignorant

Just because he's on the subway doesn't mean he's cruising

    Yeah ok.
    Why not try the cloisters??
I went there a few times 5 years ago it's across the Hudson river and is really beautiful but kind of scary at night. Just watch out for cops.

Do gays still cruise the Ramble?

New to Manhattan in the mid '80s in my tender, naive early 20s I used to bike Central Park and stumbled upon that part of the Ramble that was the irresistible peninsula extending into the boathouse's lake overlooking Bethesda fountain.

Undeterred by '70s tales of Central Park muggings given the lure of the topography and enchanting foliage I was nevertheless intrigued by a sense of danger and menace, men loitering at points along the increasingly narrowing paths. Quickly I realized it wasn't my wallet they were interested in. And I STILL could've been pulled off my bike and dragged into the bushes.

But I almost did the pulling when I was starstruck, breathless by the sight of my first celebrity crush living and breathing in front of me, a bodybuilder I'd first seen flexing mightily in his banlon shirt when I was around 10 on the TV game show "What's My Line:"

    THEN:

    NOW (STILL want):

If only I'd had the nerve to approach him.

About another dozen years later I biked the Ramble peninsula again but kept getting impeded by tourist birdwatching groups and cops threatening tickets for biking, now prohibited in the Rambles. A sanitized Central Park with rules and nary a gay cruiser in sight.

Sadder than what happened to Times Square.

It warms my heart to think that boyz may be doing the nasty again amongst the brambles.
