This action, if as Gowdy alleges, is obviously deliberate, and appears to be against laws requiring preservation of government documents. It shreads the lame defense that the documents were preserved, but on the Clinton server. Reports are her top aids also had their emails to and from Hillary on the same server. Her attorney Kendall stated all is ok because Hillary already turned over emails to the State Department. Laughable, everyone knows she turned over only what she chose to turn over.

Even loyal Democrats should think hard if they want this kind of person in the White House. The far-left "end justifies the means" crowd probably will not care.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton wiped her email server "clean," permanently deleting all emails from it, the Republican chairman of a House committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks said Friday.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said the former secretary of state has failed to produce a single new document in recent weeks and has refused to relinquish her server to a third party for an independent review, as Gowdy has requested. ...

Anticipating the far-left attempted defense that Powell and Rice had personal email accounts:

    1) No evidence that they used these accounts exclusively

    2) No evidence that they conspired with top aids to keep all their internal correspondence on personal emails, especially on a separate, private server.

    3) No evidence that they wiped a server clean.

    4) Using a personal account on a commercial platform, e.g. gmail or yahoo, makes it possible that emails, even deleted, could be recovered. Having a private server can remove that possibility is the server is wiped clean.

The brazen lawlessness of the lawyers who form the core of Obama's administration and its allies never ceases to amaze me. Each new misstep only leads to another one flouting the rule of law. And still their apologists and supporters continue to defend them by ignoring these transgressions. As Bob Dole asked several years ago, "Where IS the outrage?"

Americans are too disgusted and apathetic to voice any outrage. This is how far downhill American governance has slid. A very sad situation indeed.icon_sad.gif

I have no doubt that if asked under oath, she would have no problems committing perjury, assuming, probably correctly, that she would not be prosecuted. That doesn't apply to her former top aids, who were part of the alleged conspiracy. Get their testimony, possibly in closed hearings, so each one would not know of any of the others had spilled the beans. Motivation to tell the truth. What a novel concept.

Oh, it'll be a replay of her testimony from the 90s, "I don't recall!"

Too bad someone like Joe Manchin doesn't make a run for it. I don't know if he has taken any controversial positions, but he represents a Democrat with experience who could attract moderates from both parties. I would vote for him over Cruz and would seriously consider voting for him over some of the other Republicans.

I wonder who she learned that little trick from. Did she say it 124 times, like Reagan did at the Iran-Contra Trial?

Reminds me of Nixon and the Watergate scandal. It was before computers and their conversations were recorded on magnetic tape, which his secretary would later type up. When the investigators got ahold of the tapes the incriminating parts had conveniently been erased.

She turned over all non-personal emails. All the rest of this is just more of the endless bullshit coming from the Benghazy committee, the crazies of the GOP, and FOX. So far, this committee has found NOTHING and yet it goes on and on. And the stupid buy it.

I don't but what I do know is that there is ZERO evidence to the contrary. Since the GOP on the Benghazy committee have made ridiculous (and very mean-spirited) accusations for years and even their own people have agreed that there was ZERO truth to any of their accusations and yet the committee continues. Now this which may nothing more than they didn't find anything damaging in the Benghazy emails provided so now they're bitching because she erased her private emails. All sounds like Whitewater and their failed attempt to catch Bill on anything other than a blow job. After, what, SIX years of investigations? This character assassination is what Republicans do. And their gullible minions follow like a pack of rabid wolves.

Not only does he not know, but the suggestion that she turned over all official email goes against common sense. First, if she had the intention upon taking office that all her official email would become public, why would she have used a private server, AND, as alleged, conspired with top aids to do the same? Obvious reason was to prevent her emails ending up on a government server if recipients used state.gov email. Second, if, after the fact, she had intended all her official emails to be public, why would she, as alleged, have had the server wiped clean instead of having a neutral arbitrator go through all email and only make public what was official?

It is interesting to see feeble attempts to defend her. Typical from those who are so desperate to do so that they put out BS that can be challenged with basic common sense.

From another thread I'm borrowing some words of wisdom from:

Alpha13 saidSubjective truth was a fundamental core concept of old liberalism, however pure outright prevarication has become the M.O. of modern liberalism to a degree that would have made Richard Nixon blush.

And with it was this longer comment on liberalism's dependance on subjective truth and its consequences.

KJSharp saidAt least Conservatives don't reject the idea that objective truth exists.

But, I agree that what Gov. Walker is doing is bad, although the Left is mostly responsible. Very few universities and academics believe in objective truth, and yet they still want funding for humanities departments, chairs, and professorships. For what purpose do humanities departments exist if truth is not held to be real and in some sense searchable and discernable? The answer for the past 60 years has been to espouse radical Leftism.

There are (have been) only two reasons that provide a compelling incentive and impetus to fund the study of the humanities on a societal level. First is if society generally agrees that truth exists and its pursuit is therefore necessary. This is what a Medieval person would have felt, and is precisely why the university in the West was established in the first place. Second is the notion that humane learning is necessary for freedom, for how is man free if he cannot think about what the good life is and how and whether to pursue it. This is how the ancient Greek would have felt. A combination of these two gave rise to the study of the liberal arts in America, and is why until the past few decades Americans had a unique devotion to humane learning.

But, now, there are too many Americans like the OP and not enough Americans like me to justify pouring money into the study of humane things, which is why the humanities are largely dying. Walker and Perry would rather just ditch the humanities from the university altogether, which is sad, but better than the status quo (if we aren't going to be truly free and liberally educated, at least let's not pretend in our hubris that we are). A truly authentic Conservative solution would be to return to a truly liberal arts curriculum, which means studying Western literature, philosophy, theology, theatre, history, and government from Homer until the present. Put differently, the solution would be to fire all the professors who teach classes like "Britney Spears and 1990s music", "queer ecology", "feminist popstars," and "Harry Potter", and hire professors who would teach courses like "Ancient Greek Tragedy", "Ancient Greek Comedy", "Enlightenment Philosophy", "Dostoevsky and Nietzsche," etc...

But, alas, that would demand that we actually care about searching for truth, something that the majority of college-educated liberals do not believe in in the first place. As the New York Times described yesterday, the "Common Core" is trying to teach 2nd graders that all opinions cannot be facts (only scientific material claims can be factual). It's basically just conservatives and poor minorities who still cling to things like guns, religion, and "truth". In such a society, the university has lost its raison d'etre.

So when I read some of the comments here that are pleading for validation of their subjective "truths" -- that Hillary has been the only person in all this from the beginning who has been forthcoming, transparent and honest about her emails -- I see how truly corrupt minds have become. They would rather perpetuate a lie search for or acknowledge the truth.

Again, ZERO to back up any of this. I think if I ever saw anything coming from all you FOX repeaters that had any evidence to back up any of it, I might consider the evidence. So far the only evidence that leads me one way or the other is this disgusting Benghazi committee has done nothing but character assassination for years. And ZERO of it has turned out true. You people were just as vociferous about all that and there was ZERO truth to any of it. Just a big pile of ugly.

On Benghazi, no hard evidence yet, partly because requests for information have consistently been stonewalled, or selectively parsed out. The truth about that will eventually come out. She clearly knew the video garbage was a lie weeks after the event when she continued to spew that out, including shamefully to next of kin when the remains arrived at Dover.

On the emails, no hard evidence yet pending testimony of aids. Logic of a twisted mind:

"I see no reason to suspect any problem with emails because I see no hard evidence."
Q: Doesn't the fact that she used a server, allegedly conspired with key aids, then allegedly destroyed the evidence lead to significant suspicion?
"Duh no - Faux news, Repukes, Benghazi" Mindless lemming.

You can't answer the common sense points I made. So obvious you're a virulent partisan. The only reason I am replying to you is for the benefit of others.

Dudes, you can't blame her for this little mistake. The pressure of always being hunted down, spied upon, forced to show personal and other e-mails. No wonder she wiped some things clean. She's smart! She's not going to let things show up that might tend to look damning. I don't blame her. She's said all she'd gonna say about this witch hunt. She's turned over all there is to turn over. There just isn't any more. End of show Benghazi nazis!

Now if this was Cruz, would that be the same response ? They can recover those emails. Formatting does not erase a drive.

This article assumes a windows environment. It her server ran Linux, the tools and procedures would differ, but the concepts are the same.

Well it was a decision that she knew or should have known would generate this kind of response, although at the news conference she had on the matter she seemed annoyed it had grown to this level. Being essentially the only legit Democratic presidential candidate, she has got to expect these inquiries in a media vacuum on her side for 2016.

I think she decided it would be better to take a hit on this, hoping it would subside, become old news and covered up be a friendly media. Also counting on an adoring public.

RNC : Even Nixon didn't destroy the tapes

...The Nixon tapes were used in a criminal trials so the idea that he could have destroyed them even if he wanted to is bogus. Some of his aides advised him to burn them immediately after their existence became public, but he would surely have been impeached months earlier if he had.

The shocking arrogance of Hillary Clinton in 1) determining herself which emails were "official" and which were "personal" and 2) deleting 30,000 possibly relevant emails from her private server should even give Democrats pause. This is the person they want to be president? Someone who runs roughshod over procedure and the law?

Well, they swooned over Obama so it isn't surprising they worship Hillary.

I know her lawyer stated it was "wiped clean" but why?

I don't think the "why" was answered, but it would be interesting to note the possible "coincidence" between wiping and congressional and other FOIA requests to State.

If asked, she would probably say with a straight face it was done at the recommendation of IT folks who suggested it would be for "convenience" to make room for back up copies of Chelsea's wedding videos. The lap dogs would buy that one for sure.

One analyst suggested the real reason Clinton had the server wiped clean was to impede exposure of her involvement in the flow of foreign money to the Clinton foundation while she was Secretary of State.

Would anyone put it past her from claiming the related emails were personal?

Foreign governments gave millions to foundation while Clinton was at State Dept.
