S.C. cop charged with shooting man in back

I guess he could shoot to kill, tie this poor man up and then leave him there to die. In this case as well as many others the COP is GUILTY!!

He is guilty because this time the cop got caught on camera. I am sure, if he wasn't caught on camera, many people would have been blaming the black guy. You can't believe that this is just recent phenomena where white cops are shooting unarmed black guys.

It looks bad. I think it was bound to happen sooner or later; that better evidence would be found of such actions.

He shot him, in the back, 7 times.
Then figured the most important thing was to cuff him.

In fairness, though, I'd like to know what happened before the start of the video.
This was a routine traffic stop. The video starts in the middle of a park, far away from both cars.

The cop has been charged with murder. No bail.

States had better get their shit together and reform their local police departments before congress gets involved and does it for them.

Detroit recently started, with the support of officers, a program to outfit officers with body cams that will record what they do.

The traffic stop was over a broken car taillight. Yeah, we White folks get pulled over for that all the time. But now it's speculated this Black guy feared he'd be arrested over a child support payment dispute, and he ran away on foot.

The White cop claims the Black guy stole his taser. Except there are reports that one of the taser's barbs was found still imbedded in the dead man's body. Must have been a strange scenario to account for that fact, if true, to fit with the cop's story..

From the audio, it sounds like the cop may be shouting, "Keep your hands where I can see them" (00:15), just before the camera holder starts to film them properly. You can see the taser wires extending under tension from about the height of cop's wrists and then dragging along the ground (with the taser cartridge trailing on the ground), as Mr Scott is running away. The object on the ground near the cop's feet looks like it is probably the taser. So it seems the taser was fired at Mr Scott, before the filming started. For whatever reason, he was not (or was no longer) being incapacitated by it.

That they were apparently not near their cars (during a traffic stop) and the fact the taser was deployed, suggests Mr Scott was not being cooperative. That notwithstanding, the shooting appears to be totally disproportionate to the threat posed by Mr Scott's running away (plus, it appears no warning is shouted by the cop), hence the murder charge, presumably. And was the cop recovering the taser for safety reasons or was he 'planting' it next to Mr Scott?

During the unsteady sideways filming at the very beginning of the video (00:05), it may be possible to make out both men (both of whom appear to be fairly static) but it is difficult to see what they are doing.

Failure to comply with poice instructions can be a chargeable offense, properly subject to arrest. But I hope we haven't reached the point where non-compliance means being shot down dead in the street. Or have we?

Wait... Congress reform something? And make it better? Was that in a Disney movie?

Every cop should be outfitted with a body camera that's on all the time.
If they can't deal with that, they can go find other jobs.
It's time to end all these senseless murders.

pazzy saidi know how certain real jockers who are prejudiced will dodge this discussion like the plague. then when i talk about shit like this in terms of institutional discrimination because let's be real-this is way too common, those fucks are like "you're being racist against white people" when they're basically supporting things like this and being racist towards black people and the whole nine. icon_lol.gif you should have posted this shit on the all gay things forum.

No worries Pazzy. You showed how you can be back on the threads about Ferguson and Michael Brown. No one has a "give a fuck" left to give about your opinion anymore.

You're right. Please drag your arrogant nasty queenie fat ass out driving drunk, run a few lights and get then cuss out a cop and exercise your arrogant fat ass right to be non-compliant. I doubt he'd use his hand gun to shoot you. He'd have to use a harpoon.

Oh please. How many times have we been through this? When is the last time you've seen a US cop go to jail for shooting someone no matter how convincing the evidence?

The police department there is no doubt already cooking up reports and back dating them that show the cop's mental instability. I predict that he'll be found innocent and forced to take medical leave.

(From what I can see in this video) that cop should be charged with murder, plain and simple. Yeah, the guy was resisting arrest but since when is that justification to kill a citizen??? Of course there was obviously a lot that transpired before this video began but it looks to me like the guy was just straight up running. I don't see how the cop felt his life was in danger, which should be the only justification for shooting someone. But of course this story will be forgotten about in a few days and replaced with a new story of a different crazed killer cop.

Here in LA LA land, with the most televised car chases anywhere, usually via helicopter FLIR camera, one has seen enough of these to know when a suspect RUNS from police, ending the car chase, suspect getting out of the car to run, 99.9 % of the time, LAPD DO NOT gun the suspect down, they RUN after the suspect and wait for the suspect to get tired and give up. Or maybe the suspect goes into a neighborhood, usually then locked down and it becomes a stand off. In ten years of viewing LAPD, CHP televised chasing stupid people, very few suspects end up being shot, especially in the back.

The only time we see a televised shooting/chase, the suspect usually will get out of the stopped or sometimes moving vehicle, and charge at police, when known suspect is knowingly carrying a weapon. If at that moment in time, the police feel the suspect is not going to stop, then the police will fire, and the suspect will be shot somewhere from the front.

Clearly this SC cop did not follow police 101. More like a fantasy television cop drama or movie like Lethal Weapon. It appears he already had him tased. How far could the 50 yr old man go before wearing out? Shooting anyone in the back, let alone a fleeing person, is a sign of cowardice(lack of bravery). This cop was neither brave nor heroic, just ignorant and stupid, "Small town sheriff" is what we have here. There is that fine line between reality and television drama. I am sorry for the man's family and their tragic loss. Ex cops do not fair too well in prison. With this video, at least a manslaughter charge if not 2nd degree. icon_confused.gif

Is it just "freeze"! or is it "freeze or I'll shoot"! icon_question.gif

I see that happening, as it happens in the case of corrupt politicians. Law of the land doesn't exist for those with money and power.

    Definitely.
I see similar here in the UK with police officers retiring early, often on medical grounds, and avoiding disciplinary questions, etc. There`s also a rule whereby if an investigation takes longer than a year, no further action can be taken against the officer, including criminal charges, whatever the results of the inquiry!

LOL! You are a wacko character who's obsessed with me. I wonder what other slanders you can invent about me?

But just keep it up. The more nonsense you invent about me, the more your credibility here is destroyed. Guys here know me in person, while nobody here knows you.

There's still the possibility you're a sock. These hysterical personal attacks against me are really working against you. Which closely match a behavior profile of another guy who used to stalk me here. And who was banned several times.

Indeed, bob3 does appear to be reserving the 'worst' of his venom for you, Art. Which is odd, given that some of us have been far more vociferous in our criticism of him than you have (and he claims such criticism of him is the only reason he attacks others). Either he has abandoned his own justification or he is lying.

I've noticed that too. He seems to save his rage for Art just like another certain person. Maybe Southbitch got smart and realized we all caught on to his young boyish "Conservative" profiles so he picked this Bob character to try and throw us off.
