    Hey guys,

I remember using an MS Word feature that enabled me to hear selected text read back to me. Although it was a computerized voice, it still allowed me to hear what my writing sounded like. Now I can't find it in MS Word.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

    In Word 2008

Make sure the document is in "print layout" it won't work in note book layout

Go to view menu select toolbars and then speech (last option)

Highlight the text using the mouse

Click speak selection in the little window

OK. I have Word 2004. I don't see SPEECH in the Toolbar section. Is the SPEECH option somewhere else in Word 2004?

wouldn't have a clue, but, if you click in the menu bar above on the name of the program (next to the apple logo) you'll see an option called "services" under there you'll find speech generally it will read allowed any highlighted text

I found it. I was looking under TOOLS instead of TOOLBARS. For anyone interested, here's how you get to speech:

Go to the MENU bar --> VIEW --> TOOLBAR --> SPEECH

If you have a right/left button mouse you can also highlight the text and right click and you will see the drop menu with a number of features, spell check, speech and a few others....
