My Butt - Hip Abductor Machine

I'm trying to figure out what the upper limit is of the hip abductor machine - like what it would look like to overdevelop those muscles.

I incorporated it into my leg day a little over a month ago and it's been my most successful exercise. Everything just flows nicely, it feels natural, and the burn is amazing (I walk like I just got off a horse when I'm done). I also do squats, deadlifts, and hip thrusts for glutes, but they aren't quite as successful. I feel like my butt is starting to be rectangular, or the sides are more pronounced than the middle, and I can't tell if I'm just being paranoid. When I look up pictures of overdeveloped hip abductors or anything similar I don't find what I'm looking for.

So I guess my question is: Will doing better hip abductors than other glute workouts deform my butt? And have I already reached this point and should lay off this workout for a bit?

Also, I felt the title "My Butt" would get your attention and that's what I want. icon_twisted.gif

Hip abductors work your gleutus minimus which is like the upper part of your ass. Idk how to get a round butt but im glad mine is. The hip abductors made it even more round and "pop" at the top where my butt connects to my back.

Hmm, I guess my butt is also a lot bigger at the top now that you mention it. Certainly a shelf butt but I think I'm gonna lay off the abductors for a bit. Thanks!

I never use the abductor or adductor machines. I see the ladies go goo-goo over it. The risk over developing these muscles can result while doing cardio. A better exercise is using bands. Place band on ground. Step on it. Pull handles and step to the right (lateral move) about 15 times. Then do the same going to the left. You'll feel the sides of your legs fatigue.

    ^^So true

OP: It's a total chick machine. Never see guys on it. If you get on it, you'd basically be coming out to the whole gym.

Lol at it being a chick machine. I dont care what others think. Im trying to build every muscle to its potential and squat 405 lbs. Developing even the most neglected muscles will help me reach that goal.

A better exercise is putting the bottom on his knees, pushing his chest to the ground, and, like, slamming it to him for an hour. Just saying. icon_wink.gif

Step cardio can emphasize the leg abductor, which appeals to women participants, but it doesn't do a comparable job for the adductor muscles.

One gym has a Tunturi abductor & adductor 2-in-one machine using its proprietary bands. I love that machine the most at the gym. icon_cool.gif Now it has vanished from the market.

i just started incorporating sprints into my workouts. today was my first day and i felt my glutes locking up after about 5 sprints. also try and decelerate as fast as possible, more glute activation.

I'd rather use the alien abductor machine. We already know what that looks like when it gets overused.
