TV Show Trailer(s) below in the link....

Now that Horror Movie franchises are a hot commodity on the television set, Scream is the new incarnation to be translated into a weekly series of murder & mystery. Not following the film franchise itself , the plot goes as follows: What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past.

Whereas the 1st original Scream film began as a thought & was inspired during the GAINESVILLE RIPPER MURDERS on the University Of FL campus in the early 90's, this new SCREAM tv series is heavily based around the tragic 2012 murder of Skylar Neese.

I'm on the fence about this one, but I'm gonna give it a try (at least the "Pilot episode" for sure!) Plus I'm a true-crime junkie & since it's sorta' loosely based on the Skylar Neese case has piqued my interest. You'll notice the iconic "mask" doesn't appear - that's cuz the creators of the mask - Fun World - supposedly were asking large large sums + the creators of the show wanted to recreate a new look that was more "fleshly, creepy & sinister" looking. Guess we'll see......

The trailer looks pretty good actually. I'm a huge fan of Scream and its sequels so have high expectations for this MTV series. However, the trailer doesn't look as 'dark' as the producers are saying the show will be, it actually looks just like a teen TV show that happens to have a killer stalking a group of people.

I don't think the absence of the iconic mask of Ghostface will matter too much as it allows the show to have its own creative stamp on the franchise. However, the extent to which it links in with the films will be interesting to discover. I don't predict that the show will have a huge following (Bates Motel certainly doesn't) but I hope it lasts long enough for it to establish itself at least.
