Resolution to kill D.C. LGBT rights bill introduced in House

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) introduced a resolution in the U.S. House on Tuesday calling on Congress to disapprove a bill passed by the D.C. City Council and signed by Mayor Muriel Bowser that would ban discrimination against LGBT students attending religious schools. Reps. Bill Flores (R-Tex.) and Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) signed on as co-sponsors to the resolution.

Yet another gay bashing campaign by Republicans.
If only they were good at something besides hating on minorities.

A private school is allowed to select who they want to be in their school. That's why it's private. It receives no government funding, or it shouldn't, and is therefore not subjected to admission requirements that come with such funding.

The conflict is that parents want their kids in private schools because of better learning opportunities, smaller class sizes, etc. Government funding does not allow that due to lack of growing populations and stagnant funding and no one wants to pay for it through their taxes (which is all part of the cost of being a citizen of a district).

While elementary learning is required, education is not a right. It's a privilege. Sadly, one of depreciating value no less.

Since these religious schools pay no taxes, that means their share of the tax burden is paid by US. And no, we should not be paying taxes for schools that are discriminating against minorities.
