    First a little background:

The Broward Log Cabin Republican Club has been in the forefront of community activism that has not only dealt with local Conservative politics and community outreach but the politics of inclusion throughout the state of Florida.

Commencing in 1991 the Broward Log Cabin club joined with the Tamp Bay club and other nationwide clubs to forge a trailblazing effort that would open a pathway to equality and inclusion within Republican Circles not only in the State of Florida but throughout the country. In 1999, with the blessings of Gov. Jeb Bush and State Chairman Al Cardenas, LCR Broward became one of the first GOP State Chartered Republican clubs not only in the State of Florida but in the United States thereby opening the door of inclusion for other LCR Clubs to follow suit should they choose to do so.

    . . .
    And now the good stuff:

On April 18th the Board of Directors of the Broward County Republican Executive Committee selected the Honorable Sandra Steen, the former Mayor of Wilton Manors, and the current President of LCR Broward, as the recipient of their 2015 Lincoln Day Lifetime Achievement Award. In recognition of “Sandy’s” work over the years, accolades of appreciation were also received from The East Broward Federated Women’s Republican Club, The Broward Women’s Republican Club Federated, The Log Cabin National D.C. Leadership and Staff, and LCR Broward, Jacksonville, Miami, and Tampa Bay all published in the Lincoln Day Journal distributed the night of the Gala. The annual event featured an array of who’s who in Florida’s political circles and was topped off with a guest appearance of the fiery and nationally recognized author and commentator Ann Coulter.

Congrats to our LCR colleagues in Broward. To see and hear Ann Coulter live would alone have been worth more than the cost of admission!

Not really, mil. The left's big problem w/ her is that she gives them as good as she gets - and she gets A LOT (and not just pies in the face) - and she tells it like it is. IMO, she's one of the sharpest political minds out there today, and a satirist like we haven't seen since Swift.

Ewwww. Sorry, but from outside your country (and trust me the rest of the world is not The Left), she's a bigot.

NYT: Three of the leading Republican presidential candidates in 2007 denounced one of their party’s best-known conservative commentators for using an antigay epithet when discussing a Democratic presidential contender at a gathering of conservatives.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference before an overflow crowd, Ms. Coulter said, “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I — so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

This what she got up to in Canada.

    "
After a wide-ranging speech attacking gay rights activists, the mainstream media and the Barack Obama administration, Coulter took questions from an audience clearly divided in its support for her style of attack conservatism.

Fatima Al-Dhaher, a political science student from London, rose and spoke about comments Coulter made after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The firebrand Republican had suggested Muslim countries be invaded, their leaders killed and all Muslims converted to Christianity. She later suggested Muslims denied air travel take "flying carpets" instead.

"As a 17-year-old student of this university, Muslim, should I be converted to Christianity? Second of all, since I don't have a magic carpet, what other modes do you suggest," Al-Dhaher said to loud and sustained applause.

"I thought it was just American public schools that produced ignorant people," Coulter replied, prompting her own round of applause.

Coulter then noted many Japanese were converted to Christianity after the Second World War and "we haven't heard a peep out of them."

To shouts of "Answer the question," Coulter finally replied "What mode of transportation? Take a camel."

"Are you going to convert her now?" another student shouted out.

"No, there are some people I just as soon not convert," Coulter retorted.'

Comments made over 8 years ago? "Now, that's what I call a timely interruption!"*

As for Ann's Canadian comments, they may or may not be as old, but I'd also like to see the time and context in which they were made, and the tone with which she made them. She is, after all, a master of sarcasm, which is one of the reasons I admire her. MANY of her statements are clearly delivered in jest - albeit a biting one to match her liberal counterparts' own style - and she also has a record of being quoted grossly out of context. Be that as it may, I still like here and appreciate her for being the unique and courageous commentator she is.

    @MGINSD

Gov. Wallace wielded sharp rhetoric and excellent public speaking skills as well. Is that really your criteria for what makes "one of the" sharpest political minds in modern times? You're literally valuing form over substance to that extent?

In that case, let's give former Gov. Wallace an award. Perhaps Ms. Coulter can, again, entertain with her wit and fiery brand of "satire." icon_cool.gif

    Funny ... from the article

"Mr. Edwards’s aides responded with an e-mail message that attacked Ms. Coulter and urged supporters to donate to Mr. Edwards’s campaign. “John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power,” said his campaign manager, David E. Bonior. “Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulter’s resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion.”"

Wonder how all that worked out?

Like all conservatives, you really have no idea what liberals think. You all love to tell yourselves that you do, but you don't. Ann Coulter is an asshole, but we don't dislike her for her politics or her scrappy style. We dislike her because she makes any sort of discussion or discourse between the sides impossible. With titles like "How to Talk To A Liberal (If You Must)", she is perpetuating the incivility that really began with Newt Gingrich when he ordered in 1995 that Republican House members stop all social interactions with Democrats. The insults that are now routinely thrown at the left trace their origins to a memo that Newt circulated among House GOP members in the runup to the 1994 elections, in which he mandated specific adjectives that were required to be appended to any Democrat holding office.

This is a direct quote from the memo:

    "decay… failure (fail)… collapse(ing)… deeper… crisis… urgent(cy)… destructive… destroy… sick… pathetic… lie… liberal… they/them… unionized bureaucracy… “compassion” is not enough… betray… consequences… limit(s)… shallow… traitors… sensationalists…
    endanger… coercion… hypocrisy… radical… threaten… devour… waste… corruption… incompetent… permissive attitudes… destructive… impose… self-serving… greed… ideological… insecure… anti-(issue): flag, family, child, jobs… pessimistic… excuses… intolerant…
    stagnation… welfare… corrupt… selfish… insensitive… status quo… mandate(s)… taxes… spend(ing)… shame… disgrace… punish (poor…)… bizarre… cynicism… cheat… steal… abuse of power… machine… bosses… obsolete… criminal rights… red tape… patronage"

    http://fair.org/extra-online-articles/language-a-key-mechanism-of-control/

So really, let's cut the horseshit about Ann. She---and the rest of you---don't really want to convert anyone, or if you do, you're colossally stupid to think that we're inclined to listen to anything you say when you begin with a barrage of insults. And really, that's all Ann is about. Insults.

Conflating George Wallace, a Democrat - ok, Southern Democrat, for those who insist on that silly distinction, but deny it to all others - w/ Ann Coulter, a GOPer, are we? That's both a stretch and a deflection, which only serve to tear any sense out of the comparison.

Sorry guys, I like and admire Ann, and - for those who need records of such things - I've never liked, let alone admired, George Wallace or most of his fellow [Southern] Democrats. I'm not seeking to "convert" - we gays don't do that, remember? - just inform, so deal with the facts as you will.

Oh, and how's that Broward Cty. GOP treatin' ya, Art? Funny you never mentioned any of the things I did about them in your gin-hazed mumble-rambles over the years. So much for your credibility, as if it needed any more "proof" of its absence.

If you think Ann Coulter is one of the sharpest political minds out there...well there's really nothing more to say or discuss. That's one of the most clueless statements I've ever read on a gay website. Seek help. Read a book. icon_rolleyes.gif

Scarey isn't it? We have a bunch of these (paid?) Republican on here!

They have a bizarre sense of Republican entitlement. They expect....DEMAND...equal respect, coverage of their views, and acceptance of their hatred.

Give it up R boys! Go back to your Republican sites that spew your BS. It doesn't play here. If you're a Republican, fine. I don't give a shit. But don't get all your feathers ruffled if we don't agree with you. You're on a lost cause.

Oh, so the ladies of the log cabin held a cutting edge lunch with our dear friend Ann. Well worth the read.

Here's a youtube of Patti singing the Ladies Who Lunch to Elaine...

That's right Kissthesky. What the fuck is that matter with you. A piece of shit like Ann Coulter never would have received an award by the Log Cabiners. Instead they honored her as guest speaker at their lady's luncheon. Next time get your facts str8.

So the bitch merely was honored as speaker at the luncheon where a log cabiner received an award.

Oh, wait, or is that a distinction without a difference with regard to how the lady whores of the log cabin would sleep with the enemy.

    So cutting edge.

Wow. People admire Ann Coulter. Just wow.

Can't blame her for what she does...she's just a paid shill who loves grinding out the red meat for her fans. Why would she regret any of that, when she lives immensely well?

But, what pathology explains a group of people who are so eager to belong that they'll betray their own birth identity? Self-hating doesn't cover it. These Log Cabin Republicans need weapons-grade psychotherapy.

the Reps can't ever endorse same sex marriage, social issues and environmental protection are the only thing that sets them apart from Democrats, it's their foundation

without their divisive Biblical social issue wedge, the Reps are toast

as for Coulter, she just embodies the Rep philosophy of war and hate
