NYT: With the Supreme Court widely expected to make same-sex marriage a national right, foes are turning their focus to more limited issues such as “opt-out” laws.

Can we have a Cracker Solidarity Day? The feels are really strong, I can't even imagine what they are going through. Especially the pic of the old man in the corner pouting, clutching his bible. icon_biggrin.gif

Conservatives who still hate gay people are becoming the new racists -- an embarrassing throwback to a hateful era our country is trying to move beyond.
These anti-gay conservatives will never change... just like aging racists who still use the "n" word, they will hate gay people until their last dying breath.

The great thing is that young people are turning their backs on anti-gay conservatism in huge numbers. The haters will end up on the ash-heap of history, where they belong.

Then why is it that we still have headless profiles from people who feel the need to hide their identities in an openly gay forum?

The anti- gay crowd still wins because this is still happening.

Not all Millennials are liberal, open minded, and accepting of others. There is a significant number of Millennials who are just as stupid, backward, and primitive minded as these old goats who clutch their King James Version of the Holy Bible.

In the inimitable words of Stephen Sondheim:

Someone is on your side, our side, someone else is not.

While we're seeing our side, maybe we forgot they are not alone.

    No one is alone.

So the magistrate stepped down. Good. That's what's supposed to happen. You aren't forced into helping others exercise their civil rights if you don't want to. And he can still become a licensed minister and perform marriages for whomever he likes, but if he wants to continue doing it for the state, then he'll have to put aside his own personal feelings. It's not about him.

Summer's coming ... maybe it's time for the gay community to start a million man march on each of their capitol steps icon_razz.gif

That some Millennials aren't accepting doesn't change KissTheSky's point. Unlike their elders, who ruled the social roost, they have heard the other side and largely know that they should whisper their thoughts to like-minded people rather than in the public forum. To hide their bigotry and keep it in the closet.

You can't eliminate INDIVIDUAL bigotry, but INSTITUTIONALIZED bigotry is a different thing.

The next Supreme Court issue which will have to be taken up if these assholes get their way is whether elected officials and government officials have to do ALL their jobs or only the parts they WANT to do. icon_rolleyes.gif

These "foes" - aka the GOP - show their respect for constitutional law and American principles of equal treatment.

AS a millenial, I can tell you with certainty that the vast majority (and I mean VAST) of us either support or take no issue with same sex marriage/relations.

as for those who are stupid, backward, and primitive? they probably got it from their equally (if not more) stupid, backward and primitive parents.

Thank you. Even my most conservative and Federalist Society attending friends overwhelmingly support LGBT rights. In fact, my friend helped me in lobbying for a recent bill sponsored by Blake Ewing. More than half these Council members are GOP members. The kicker, which allowed likely caused them to support this measure, they're younger.

Look at the Tulsa City Council for example, they just UNANIMOUSLY passed an amendment adding sexual orientation and gender identity as "protected classes" in housing discrimination. Again, this was in the RED state of Oklahoma. Tulsa county votes RED in elections. This is simply a non-issue for Millenials.

It is not as vast a majority as you perceive. Get out of your dream world bunky. There are a large number of Millennials that do have issues with gay equality. You need to get out of the protective cacoons of urban/suburban America. Go out to the small towns and remote rural areas and you will bump into Millennials who don't share your viewpoints and are fiercely opposed to gay equality. It is not all clear sailing.
