Is Grindr worth investing into?

For a long time now, I've had thoughts of using it, but heard some rather deplorable things about it ranging from creepy messages and thirst to outright racism and overall discrimination. My co-worker had stated that this was one of the option to "putting yourself out there", but aside from going to the gym in my free time to get out of the house and bettering myself, there's nothing much going on. Is it worth checking into? To be honest, it's more of a boredom thing, but I always avoided it because I felt I wasn't the "ideal male".

I have never been discriminated against on Grindr, and none of my gay friends have ever reported anything of that sort. The worst complaints are (1) the APP crashes a lot, (2) the APP drains your battery in a few hours, (3) guys are 'online' if they were last on 2 hours ago, there should be a 'real time' indicator so you're not playing message tag over four days to say "hi," "how are you?" "I'm good, you?" and (4) after a month of it being 'fresh' you'll notice the SAME guys in your neighborhood.

It's just another means to connect, primarily for hookups, but sometimes, some guys are ostensibly seeking friendship or dates.

You're a grown f-ing man. Download the APP and give it a whirl. You're not a 12 year old who needs protection. But speaking of protection, always use a condom icon_cool.gif

Of course there's rampant racism on Grindr. Google "Grindr r" and it auto-finishes for you lol. But it's no more racist than any other gay site, or gay bar, venue or gay-written TV show, etc lol... it's pretty widely held that gays are more racist than straights. There's no avoiding it if you ever want to date, just grow some skin and don't end up groveling for approval.
