NYT: A toilet seat that warms and cleans has been used widely abroad for decades, but is just beginning to catch on in the United States.

Sometime back at work, I used to notice that the toilet was warm and wondered why. It was a nice thing.

The plumbers came a year or so later and ruined the luxury. They were fussing and fuming because someone had plumbed the toilet with hot water! Of course this is terrible for the drain seal, but is was nice while it lasted.

If you have never taken one of these for a ride.. you should.
I could sit there for the longest time with that warm water massaging my target.
    Just sayin'

    JUST BEGINNING to catch on?

This must be a SLOW news day for the Times. These "toilet robots" have been available and publicized in the U.S. for a very, very long time.

In 2003 when I gut renovated my Manhattan coop I installed an outlet (Lutron satin finish the exact same color as the travertine tile walls, naturally) to the lower left of my new elongated bowl Toto toilet with the plan of eventually* upgrading to Toto's Jasmine washlet:

    * I had to cut corners on the reno somewhere and what with the $1,000 Robern medicine cabinet I had to re-use the existing slightly mismatched sink and wait on the washlet.
