    No they are not.

    http://techcrunch.com/2015/05/01/apple-confirms-tattoos-can-affect-apple-watchs-heart-rate-sensor-readings/

You want to be fit and use apple iWatch or something to measure your heart rate and your tattoo affects that? Your fault.

I personally would not want a tattoo. I like my skin to be clear and free of anything unnecessary.

Techcrunch.comApple has updated its Apple Watch support documentation, confirming that the device may have issues when worn by users who have wrist tattoos. The changes were added following a series of reports from new Apple Watch owners who found that their tattoos seemed to interfere with the smartwatch’s ability to track their pulse or cause other problems. Apple now says that permanent and temporary changes to your skin, including the ink used in tattoos, can impact the heart rate sensor’s performance.

With future technology using lasers and so on, people with tattoos will not benefit and you are just losing out.

Get off the bandwagon and do not be bad with tattooing all over the place. Only have tattoos in the right place and NOT your wrist.

I put my new medical tattoo on my right wrist. And wear a watch on my left. I understand other wearable body monitoring devices besides the Apple Watch have the same problem with tattoos. I'm delaying buying an Apple Watch until all the reports are in, but I'm considering it.

On the other hand, there are research groups trying to develop medical monitoring devices, such as blood-sugar monitors, that are themselves tattoos. So far, they still require external devices though. Hmm...

FitBit, iWatch, et al can NOT accurately measure this type of data. Maybe it's better than nothing, but they are notoriously inaccurate.

Besides, tattoos are sexy. Well, depending on the tattoo and the person wearing it.

Home bathroom weight scales are also not as accurate as professional medical scales. They're useful if they're at least consistent, so you can track weight change trends.

So do you think these wearable monitoring devices are reasonably consistent, from one reading to the next? Even if they're not perfectly accurate?

I know that heart rate monitors on gym equipment are not accurate, either, the units sometimes having that disclaimer printed on them. But they do seem consistent for my use, and at least get you in the ballpark.

No, it's the developers' fault because they didn't take into consideration the fact that tattoos have been around long before tech devices.

if you don't want a tat, then don't get one. If you want a blue car, then buy one....if you don't like to bottom, then top.....if......opinions are like assholes....everyone has one but not everyone shares them......
