This happened to me a couple of weeks back. I was in a car with some people in their early 20s who I just met at a party. We were headed to the club. Someone says: "Put some music on!" So the owner of the car (roughly the same age as me), put his iPod on and Madonna's "Fever" from "Erotica" (1993) came up. I sang to it from memory.
Then a girl (who was probably 20 y/o *lol*) sitting next to me said, "Put something else on!" So our humble driver obliged and then came Madonna's "Forbidden Love" from "Confessions" (2005) and then that same girl demanded to "Put the volume up! Oh my God, I LOVVVVVVVVE MADONNA! She's amazing!!!"
The driver and I just looked at each other and we just laughed. She asked "Why? What's wrong?" I just said, "Nothing, I guess you really are a huge Madonna fan."icon_rolleyes.gif
Typical Dubai-yan. So I do expect everyone here next month to be suddenly a jazz aficionado during the annual Dubai International Jazz Festival.icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif
Anyway, I think that what makes Madge a legend.icon_cool.gif

Honestly, I love the 80's Madonna best. Her singles have been good and she's had good album songs, but nothing so seriously good I've been dying to see it. Ray Of Light was good though.

I was singing Open Your Heart to me in my head today though.

Um, I've been to her past three tours (2004, 2006, 2009) and I've never seen her flash her bush on stage.

I dig her alpha-femaleness and how it sets her apart from the others. Yeah, I also dig her music but most of all I give her props for not only surviving but achieving the title of "most successful female recording artist on earth" after 30 years in a music genre that is like fast food culture.

Being driven/ambitious I also gotta give her props for her relentless pursuit of achievement within her career. She coulda retired ages ago but she keeps pushing herself....and btw, saw her latest "Sticky & Sweet Tour" and she could crack a pair of coconuts on her thighs...she's r-i-p-p-e-d!

she is amazing but i was slightly shocked to ssee her at the Sticky and Sweet tour. I saw it in miami and I was 4th row but I was surprised how skinny she was. She was ripped but like skinny ripped like she had been working way to hard without eating....she looked good though and she did moves that i will never be able to do in my entire life. Love her

And why should she retire? She's only 50 and still on top of her game. Mick Jagger is 65. Steven Tyler is 60. Tom Jones is 68. Rod Stewart is 64. Tony Bennett is 82. They don't seem to be stopping any time soon. Why should Madonna? Because she's a woman? Please! With her discipline, energy, and drive, there's no slowing down let alone a full out stop.

As to the OP. Well, Erotica dropped *gasp* some 17 years ago when Miss 20 Year Old was Miss 30 Month Old (the album was releases in the fall of 1992 and Fever was released as a relatively low performing single the following spring. I'm not surprised this girl didn't know the song. For many of todays kids, their knowledge of Madonna's career begins somewhere between Ray of Light and Music with a few references to The Immaculate Collection for her golden oldies of the 1980s. Those of us who remember when Like a Virgin was shiny and new are now at the youngest in our mid 30s. Times change.

    I'm a Material Girl!

I was born in the 80's and love her 80's early 90's music better than what she is producing now. Like A Vrgin, I still enjoy her all around, though.

I always get Into The Groove when I listen to her earlier works, and people say they can see the Starlight twinkling in my eyes as I dance to her beat!

So don't be just a Borderline Madonna fan, Open Your Heart to all her music career.... you may just Live To Tell that you have become a true Madonna fan.

***ya ya that was korny... but thse are some of my favorite Madonna songs... well some of the others wouldn't fit into sentences that made sense.icon_biggrin.gif

I was born in 82, I know all of madonna's music, including virgin, erotica, actually I have all her albums from the start to the finish.. her early music was great, now she makes the same stuff everyone else does, but back then she really offended people hahaha icon_biggrin.gif

I was born in 1986, but I had 3 sisters who were big Madonna fans. In fact, I don't know much of her new songs. The songs I recognize are her old ones (dunno which albums though, but songs like La Isla Bonita etc.)

She and Micheal Jackson were some of the few 80's singers I liked back then and still do now. (note: like! not obsess over LOL)
