Bodies vs steroids

    Hello everyone!
I've been a user of Realjock for a couple of years now (altough intermittently) and I've always been quite amazed at the bodies some of the users have. However, for some reason, I can't seem to get rid of this slim build I have and I'd really love to bulk up and get bigger. So that made me wonder: is it possible to achieve that kind of build without steroids? Simply through exercise and nutrition? Any kind of information would be helpful and I'm really sorry if I touched a sensitive issue.

Yes, you can, not exactly like those who do steroid, but you can bulk up and have a better build. You need to have good diet. I think you should search the forum more. There have been good advices posted here in the past. Normally, people with your build are called ectomorph. There have been many posts here about building muscle for ectomorph.

    What exactly is an ectomorph?
Yeah, I'm going to start digging inside the forum, maybe I'll find people in the same situation that I am and sharing the same doubts.

I thought I wouldn't be able to gain weight. Now I am 10lbs heavier than I was a year ago. Eat. Eat. Eat. Eat.

You are 20. You will fill in without having to eat, eat, eat. Stay lean, lift heavier weights, eat healthy, and increase your intake of protein. Steroids can be dangerous but I'm not totally against some use of them if you know what you're doing and know your sources. But it looks like you've got good genes to develop without. Even if you do steroids, you've got to do the diet and weights religiously and put in the hard work for years. Start with that.

That is awesome advice! I've been to the gym for a couple of weeks but for some reason I keep thinking that it is impossible for me to achieve the body some of the guys have here. I never really consider taking steroids, that was just an explanation that popped in my head for some of the bodies I see here on the website icon_smile.gif

Yeah, this is true. I used to be a skinny kid at 20, and even my parents were worried that I would never become a normal build guy. Most of my family members are kind of on the big side. Now, I need to watch out what I eat. Sometimes, it's just an age thing. Just lift, eat well, and over the next 4-5 years you will have the kind of body you wanted. One of the biggest thing in working out is having patience. Most of the guys with good body have been working out for a long time. You can't expect miracle overnight or even in a year or two.

Exactly^^^^. Plus, most guys thinking of steroids discount that fact that the guys on them are usually doing crazy hard workouts to get those muscles. And eating right. Steroids don't develop muscles. Lifting does. And diet.

Find a good sports dietitian who can help you structure your diet and show you the ingredients that can help you achieve high calories with natural healthy ingredients that won't stuff you with food and respect your appetite.

It takes time, consistency and effort. Guys who have amazing bodies have been working out for a year or several. Depends what your standards are. Everyones bodies are different - some have to work harder to reach their goals, but it's possible. Believe that it's possible and you'll get there.

But as everyone else said, the key is a reasonable amount of weight training, and eating right/more.

WAIT.......you've been going to the gym for TWO WHOLE WEEKS? Well, that changes everything. Yes, you will definitely need to do steroids because you should have gained at least 20 pounds of muscle within the first week.

Couple of weeks? It takes years bro and is a lifetime thing. Just be persistent and watch your diet, workout routines and sleep; and you can get the body of your dreams without steroids.
    Goodluck.

99% of people with amazing bodies are enhanced. But you can definitely improve on your current physique naturally.

For your goals steroids probably arent necessary. If you want to look like fitness models and people who are rampant in the fitness industry you will need them. Not necessarily for the size but steroids give you a different look that isn't attainable naturally through any means. I would find your tdee and start eating in a 200-300 caloric surplus. When you stop gaining weight up your cals again by 2-300.

Most Professional Body Builders use steroids. The only problem is how big does one want to get. I have seen some pic's on the internet where guys look like the Michelin Man or even bigger than The Incredible Hulk. Gaining mass and size naturally is great although difficult to maintain, but you will never get really massive muscles without the use of steroids. This is why Pro-Body Builders use roids, to maintain size and strength.

As a former slim guy, my first piece of advice is to start lifting heavy. Sets of 5, or even 3 can have a big effect on your body.

One little talked about fact is that your bones actually get damaged and can grow when lifting. Micro-fractures in the bone that get repaired like our muscles do. Over time this strengthening of bone, tendon and muscle is what makes our bodies able to grow and carry more muscle.

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/552936-does-weightlifting-stimulate-bone-growth/

Speaking from experience, it was the heavy lifting, especially full body lifts, squats, deadlifts, cleans, that had me really grow and maintain muscle.

Also, don't be afraid of carbs pre and post workout. Starchy carbs are fuel and help the body to build muscle.

Just to tag on a response about steroid use. Sadly, without fail, every time I've ever talked to a guy that's "huge" (you know the type: veins bulging, biceps the size of their head) they've eventually admitted they've gone on at least one "cycle". "Cycle" means a cycle of steroid use, where they go on them, and then ease off them again.

There's a really great documentary on Netflix about steroid use that claims that the highest use of roid's in US are college to middle-aged men, who are not athletic professionals.

So like many things in life, you need to lift to reach your own goals and try to find role-models that at least looks like they lift naturally if you want to set yourself something attainable.

Don't look to actor's either. Most celebrity "transformations" are the result of doctor prescribed and monitored steroid use. No unmodified human being can go from Machinist to Batman in less than a year without a lot of chemical assistance. It would not surprise me if we see a lot of today's young Hollywood actor's dealing with serious health issues later on in life.

Don't get on roids - you're twenty and full of natural roids. Start eating way MORE than you do. I know, you'll say you do already. You don't, start.

Sylvester Stallone is nearing 70 and has been juicing for decades.

I had this one guy come into my work complaining about being sick for 2 weeks and being unable to gym and thus losing 70% or so of his strength.
He later mentioned he uses steroids.

I just feel like steroids give you a fake strength because the moment you stop you're not going to be as big or as strong as you were using them, and regardless of all the side effects that come with it, people still want to use it.

People who want to build their bodies don't have the patience it seems because they look to whatever can help them do it the quickest way.

I'm not a body builder myself but I don't understand why you wouldn't want to build your body in the most natural way.
Why rely on shit that the moment you stop is going to show you your real strength and is just going to piss you off.

Build your real strength from the start and be patient if it takes more time because at least it's your real strength sick or not, without any substances to help you fake it.

This, PED use is absolutely rampant. There are even quite a few people on them that still don't have amazing bodies regardless. They'll accelerate results, but the work and dedication still needs to be put in. The risks tend to be highly overblown if you've put in the research time, but they're undoubtedly very powerful hormones that have the potential to alter your endocrinology permanently.
