What are exercises that if you do them make you feel like your in a prison camp being tortured for information.

Wall Sits. I used to cuss out my trainer which just made him laugh and he would never tell me how long I was doing it. After your leg workout you sit up against the wall like you would in a chair with proper posture. I've actually started doing it on my own. 30 seconds is my max. Hurts like hell but it is a good finish to you leg routine if you can do it.

Personally I am a huge fan of weighted wall sits - Ill normally take a 25 or 45 lb plate and rock out. Tons of fun.

My new bit of torture is pyramiding pushups into pullups. So for example, 1 pushup...2 pullups...3 pushups and so on up until ten, then backwards for as long as I can handle. I normally take a minute break in between but not much more.

    I Love it.

Wall sits are horrible. Alternating single leg wall sits make me want to cry.

LOL I remember those days. Gymnasts have powerful bodies. At least I still retained my flexability. Really miss it though. It was such a challenge.

Lunges are difficult for me, esp with weights. My legs could use improvement.

anything you turn into a drop set makes the particular muscle group feel like its your first day in the gym (if you do em right) i just started doing them about three weeks ago, and for the muscle groups you can never seem to really seem to target, i just turned some of those lifts into a drop set, watched my form and they haven't failed me yet.

Bulguarian split squats???? Are you serious? Love em. If you want them to really hurt do them weighted and then when you fail do them body weight for 10 more reps. 3 set of that ... ahhh love it.

The only thing that I don't look forward to is tabata HIIT training. and even that I have a sort of SnM type enjoyment of.

Actually there is something else... squat prep, where you do 5 squats touching your bum on a bench with a plate then hold 5 secs, then 10 reps and 10 sec hold, then 15 reps and 15 sec hold. That is one. You do it three times. Makes wall sits feel like a comfy sofa.

see I am such the leg worker...I think maybe cause more bottom heavy and friendly to my body, that I can do lunges and wall sits not with out difficulty, but with a better feeling than other exercises. However, when it comes to upper boddy stuff, especially since now "I haven't been working out, they are like so harsh for me. I remember doing this pushup where I had to walk with when you hit plank position...OH MAH GAWD!...lol...I cried to my mother and father, Jesus and Moses, and a little bit of Mohammed...LMAO!

anything static always sucks. but id have to say push-ups from elevation blows, where your toes are touching a ball and your arms are gripped on suspended grips so your literally doing your body weight with each push-up, but once you master em. flipping FUN.

legs and abs are the worst for me. I really don't mind calves tho.
Also, abs may be really intense but I actually like it. icon_twisted.gif

Do them. They hurt more than normal stepping lunges... and more than one legged squats (pistols). WORK YOUR LEGS, PEOPLE icon_lol.gif

the best is to superset them:

    (1) 10 reps weighted then 10 body weight only, 3 sets
    or
    (2) work all the lunge variations: bulgarian split squat, stepping lunge, normal squat. If you do them with dumbbells you can make them into a circuit/superset that hurts more than you can imagine. (though (1) above does too)

    (blush) Thanks again TnG

Actually I think Lostboy is right. Lots of us tend to neglect leg work because it seems disproportionately harder and the results take far longer to show. The leg muscles are the longest in the body and the effort required to work them is multiplied accordingly. But we who live in hot climates can't wear long pants all the time.
