I read somewhere that they do indeed eat squirrel..
Apparently it's considered a delicacy over there.
If I saw someone eating squirrel I'd say they were a freak
But I eat squid so they must think the same about me I suppose..icon_confused.gif

It's possible to eat it as a stand-alone meat with veggie sides, but I usually threw the meat into dumplins.

If you've ever eaten at a buffet you've probably eaten shit, too. Just think of all the nasty folks who use the restroom and don't wash, then handle the utensils at the buffet. icon_eek.gif

People eat rabbit as well. Both rabbits and squirrels are rodents. Rhetorical question: so why do we freak out about people eating rats, another rodent?

Those guys who invented the duck calls eat the flying rats too. Duck die-nasty!

If I put anything in my mouth it will be prime USDA beef or Alaska wild salmon....grilled, lightly seasoned. I like Buffalo and Deer meat also

    because rats are considered filthy
I saw a homeless guy eat a roach once.
He ate it as if he were eating a liquor filled chocolate.
    It sounded really crunchy!

Well in Greece during easter they gather the intestines from the lamb and wrap them tightly around the organs ie.
liver kidneys etc and they eat that after its been baked so maybe you could call that shit but it isn't really.
it's gross in my opinion..the head of the lamb is eaten as well especially the brain. Gross.

Never tried partaking of this tradition, but organ meat in general can be very tasty. Probably much more dicey to eat organ meat in the US than Europe, because of all the chemicals, hormones, and antibiotics used in agricultural feed here (which tend to be concentrated in the liver, etc.) Never eaten squirrel, but could if someone else prepared it. Have shot my share of them though - they are just flying rats, that ravage gardens and get into attics to do damage.

I have eaten squirrel meat before

I had a little bite that was fried and the meat was chewy. It almost tasted like chicken fried chicken (yes thats a thing lol)...but again a bit more chewy. And its Dark meat btw.

The most I ever had of it was in a "Squirrel Pot pie". So the meat was smothered in gravy and the meat came out kinda soft (but still chewy). Not bad actually.

Will I ever eat it again? Probably not. My curiosity was satisfied.

Personally, I think there are a lot more gross things out there. Like Escargot. Or a Balut egg (that is ew x infinity).

It was an obscure joke from my childhood. In the southwest you'd hear about people eating rattlesnake and the obvious question was what does it taste like, and the answer was, as with everything else, like chicken.
