NYT: A new study offers some helpful perspective, suggesting that even a few minutes per hour of moving instead of remaining in a chair might substantially reduce the harms of oversitting.

I already do that all the time, kind of instinctively, not having read this article before. Last Saturday night, at the awards banquet I wrote about elsewhere, we were seated for over 2 hours. Those chairs are never comfortable.

So about twice I excused myself from the table and took a walk. Hit the men's room, naturally, as long as I was there, if only to fuss with my hair and snug my bow tie at a mirror, and went down to the casino to see the action (it was the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, though I never gamble).

Then I returned to my seat between speeches. My husband knows I always do this; I simply cannot, and will not, remain seated that long, I must take a brief walk. Same thing at home when at this computer. RJ will show me still online, but I'm actually away doing dozens of things in other rooms.
