A dancer at a gentleman's club has filed a restraining order against anti-gay Texas state senator Charles Perry, author of the Freedom of Religion with Respect to Recognizing or Performing Certain Marriages Act.

See... it so often has nothing to do with God or religion except that people are using God and religion to support their bigotry.

US Republicans typically misname their legislative bills to something that "Protects" or offers "Freedom". When in fact they are designed to restrict, oppress and discriminate against citizens, usually LGBT and women.

By his behavior he obviously doesn't care too much of this "religion" he claims to protecting. Deeply religious men don't hang out in strip clubs. It is called fornication since he is married. No surprise, there are bigots in Texas and in the Republican party.

    Right.

The Bible is often (mis)used as a source of quotations to support foregone conclusions.

What is often referred to as the "Summary of the Law" in the Bible is overriding. It directs us to love our neighbors as ourselves and is essential to Christianity. If people actually followed that, surely many of our problems would be less serious.
