NYT: With bargain gasoline prices putting more money in the pockets of Americans, owners of hybrids and electric vehicles are defecting to sport utility vehicles and other conventional models, according to Edmunds.com, an auto research firm.

    and this is an issue?
a 5th gen honda civic vx gets 50mpg with no technology and almost no cost of ownership. plus you can parallel park in the city with out fear. Functional reliability, absolutely gets you a to b.

i guess the good thing is you have a choice

I enjoyed that article because I can relate. I actually owned two full size cars in a row that were Hybrid and yes it was nice getting 40 something miles to the gallon, but all in all, it's not what kept me when it was time for a new car.

My last 2 cars have been a gas engine and it's just not that big a deal between the two. Most cars get better mileage now, anyway...
My current engine is a flex fuel model and I've yet to try Ethanol. All the stats I've read on it makes me wonder why it's even there.
Sure the gas cost (a bit) less, but the mileage is total crap compared to real gas.
Kinda makes no sense. So, for me, I'll just stick with a nice car that gets good mileage.

Bicycles get better gas mileage than any car on the road. And they're more fun to ride.

And bicyclists are even more fund to ride.

(Not as good as a ballet dancer, but you can't find many of those.)
