woodsmen saidLove Pensacola!
When we moved here in 1978 we were escaping South Florida and looking for a quieter life. My lover had lost his job in TV/radio in the Anita Bryant gay witch hunts in Dade County. We both had seven year old sons. We didn't know there were any gay bars in Pensacola and ended up living two blocks from one, "Quiet Village," and three blocks from "The Yum Yum Tree."
Mday was going STRONG back then.... even in the Gay Dark Ages. By the time the boys were 12 we were pretty involved with MDay through Burke, the owner of Quiet Village (RIP).
Woodsmen, if you come this way any other time but MDay let me know in advance. You and your are welcome to stay over... We'll have plenty to talk about besides RJ and politics. I'll be leaving August 14th and won't be back until September 2nd to get ready for guests for Labor Day which is about 30% the size of the MDay crowd.
On another note... The beach, the weather and the water are always at their best and most beautiful the 3rd weekend in October. It never fails.
Here's a facebook page for some good pics of the "family reunion" on the beach. https://www.facebook.com/PensacolaGayMemorialBeachWeekend?fref=ts&ref=br_tf
