Why Dad Bod Could Spell Dead Bod

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/why-dad-bod-could-spell-dead-bod.html

Stephanie DonaldsonIf you continue living the Dad-Bod lifestyle, before you're even able to trade in that family car for a midlife crisis hotrod, your neglected and over-indulged Dad Bod will become a Gramps Bod. You'll have to give up your prized beer and nachos for blood pressure pills and Viagra. Instead of looking forward to your golden years, you'll be too busy trying to manage your type 2 diabetes and hoping erectile dysfunction doesn't ruin your night's big plans. I know I don't have to tell you this, but there's nothing sexy about that.

You know what is universally sexy? A healthy body. Forget about anyone's expectations, that hot chick's favorite "type," and even the goals of other guys here on Bodybuilding.com. A healthy body radiates a happy, confident outlook, and those are always the hottest qualities a man can possess. A truly healthy body doesn't have a squishable mound of fat hanging over the waistband. Whether you want to be athletic, have abs for days, or be a weight-crushing monster, the choice is yours. Just choose healthy—for now and your future.

A healthy body, like anything else worth having, takes work and dedication. But being healthy isn't just about vanity; it's about living. It's about taking care of yourself for the long haul—not just for yourself, but for the sake of your family and loved ones.

Of course, achieving that body and living an active life shouldn't be drudgery. Far from it! Fitness should be fun. It's personal. Whether you love lifting weights or hiking on the weekends, keeping yourself in shape shouldn't feel like torture. It should be an adventure—and yes, it's one you can take with the whole family.

pazzy saidthe whole dad bod movement actually separates the boys from the men. funny because all the guys that were working out simply to get some dates off of their looks are all getting mad because they feel that their calling card is getting snatched away. you don't need to have muscles or be physically appeasing to get a date, sex or love. it's sad really. folks just have to believe in themselves instead of thinking they're unlovable.

Nobody said you have to have a good body to get a date. Almost anybody can get "a" date. However, you have more candidates if you have a good body (especially if you are female or a gay guy)

Hmmm....I think the whole dad-bod thing boils down to this first sentence, "If you continue living the Dad-Bod lifestyle,"

Therein lies the problem, a dad-bod and a dad-bod lifestyle are not the same thing; you can live a very healthy lifestyle and be fit and still end up with a dad-bod (not an exaggerated dad-bod, like some of the pics I've seen).

The dad-bod lifestyle being talked about is interesting, because I knew a lot of Adonis looking men whose lifestyle was far worse as far as food and booze and smoking went. Why no dad-bod you ask? They were at the gym every day.

See, on another thread I defended the Dad Bod because of social pressure, but on this thread, i see the video of the Brofessor saying its bad, and I shamefully do anything he says.

I still prefer a dadbod over a super fit guy that trashes dadbods. This thread is just confirming

Super fit: vanity, piousness, judgemental, short time material.
Dad Bod: modesty, sincere, chill, non-judgemental long term material

I thin you guys should stop worry about dad bods and date super fit guys. You two are too different inside and out and to get together anyway.

What bullshit! you sound just as bad as those 'fat acceptance' people. Being fit dosent mean you're vain. and there are plenty of fat dudes who are superficial as fuck ! Especially straight ones

I didn't say being fit means you're vain. A lot of guys with "dad-bod" bodies are fit in my opinion. And you're right. There are fat men who are superficial. Nevertheless, a dad bod doesn't equal obese. It simply means you don't have abs and a super toned body. While most people like looking at and lusting after a super fit guy, most people don't have the personalities it takes to become super duper into fitness and different personality clash.

Some pictures would be useful, instead of this arguing over semantics. An average "dad" is neither obese or super-fit. Are we talking about bears tho?

The lean muscular body standard is forever. It will never be snatched away, don't worry.

Overweight and out-of-shape is emblematic in the U.S., so predictably we found a way to lionize it.

In the meantime, try to find pants with a 30 waist.

You might be right about that, but the vast majority of people on this Earth are completely fine with overlooking a non-lean or muscular body to find something greater than a nice looking exterior. You can shit all over the hot bombshell for picking the slightly pudgy guy all you want but in the end, they're experiencing something far greater and more beautiful than a lean muscular body.

I just watched this video and that's what people are talking about. Too many super fit people tell non-super fit people that they're worthless. That guy started off as hot but then he devolved into something worse than ugly...a shitty human being. At least ugly people can be good people underneath it all. There's nothing wrong with recommending people take care of their health but saying the rest of who you are is worthless because you're not working out at the gym regularly...goddamn. Most human beings don't want to be around such a person.

Something tells me that the whole dad bod hysteria is just made up controversy. The term’s popularity began when Clemson University student Mackenzie Pearson published an essay about the phenomenon on The Odyssey, in which she suggests that men with an average physique are by default more attractive than their chiseled counterparts. When you think of it a dad bod is more of the average type of American male body. The guys with the sculpted muscles trade off their time with living for the gym and about how much protein they need to eat. I think everyone has had a time when they were out of shape. If you take a closer look at the fashion industry you’ll notice there are no muscled men models. Yet it’s a common misconception that extreme muscles is the ideal male image. I really think this should be dismissed as bullshit social engineering.
