ok New Yorkers, where do you get your hair done? I need a new stylist… preferably in the $40-70 range.

The one I went to last, I gather, had a hearing problem.

What's up Satyricon331!

A good friend of mine works for Antonio Prieto Salon in Chelsea. He's one of their principal stylists. One thing to take note on is that they are a bit pricey. However, they have an apprentice program where you can get a cut from one of their stylists in training for $45 bucks, which would normally cost you way more than that. I Love them... they really rock and what's best... they are really down to earth and far beyond btichy. Below is a link to the actual salon's page as well as a link from Citysearch. Check them out and good luck!

Ha ha... Hey Sed, we're talking about stylists here. There are barber shops and other places where you can go and get a cut anywhere from $10 to $20 dollars. It's all good, we can all relax and take a deep breath now .

That's a moderate to slightly above moderate price range for NYC. I worked in salons nearly 17 years ago and the prices ranged from $45 to $85. These were prices in downtown Chicago nearly 20 years ago. They're pricier now.

lol... I only cut my hair once every 2-3 months, so it averages out into something affordable. When it gets longer I start using curl-defining conditioner, but this time it isn't working and I don't know why

Thanks packy70!

I have very curly hair and knew how to eventually work with it to keep it from looking like a big ol' disco fro.

The humectant product by Aveda in the cobalt glass jars were very good for curly hair. I assume they still carry it. Give it a try and don't use too much or you'll have nasty greasy hair.

I go to a guy out in williamsburg, about 2 blocks from the second brooklyn stop on the L. so very convenient to Manhattan. it's a small salon, not even sure if it has a name or not, just 3 people in a storefront.

He was recommended by a friend, and i know about 5 other people that go to him, and everyone loves his cuts.

normally $50 for a cut.

mail me for contact info if you want it.

No no, I mean... I should learn hair styling!

Even $10-$20 for a barbershop is still , I mean, a haircut from a barbershop here costs less than a dollar!

I think I've found the reason why buzzcuts are becoming so popular out there.
