I'm in a band called Indiana Queen and we just released a new music video this morning, which is already getting attention from Huffington Post, Accidental Bear and more.

Check out the HuffPo write-up and video below and let me know what you think!

I'm an alt-country fan and like the song and the singer's voice a lot. But don't you think you're doing your music a disservice by releasing a video that's going to get a lot more attention than the song? It seems gimmicky and the song is strong enough not to need that.

@defensiveend - I definitely see where you're coming from. We have a strong focus on keep our music authentic and not gimmicky at all / not playing the "gay" card with our music and keeping it relatable and honest. However, when it came to the video for this song, we did want this video to garner some attention and played into that a little more than the music does itself by having some NSFW shots...even still though, done in an artistic way. I see where you're coming from and appreciate the feedback, really! Just explaining our side.

And check out our video for the first single "This Is Me Trying"...I personally like the song and video more, would love to hear your thoughts on it (link below).

The problem the NSFW vid is that it immediately restricts viewing. For some gays it's not suitable for home either, especially if they're not out yet and still living with family.

Have you guys thought of a vid that's about gay love but more artistic in perspective and focusing on feelings/drama in the song rather than painting naked etc? The song has HUGE mainstream potential.

You're really talented. I liked that song and video better too. That video is sexy but didn't overwhelm the song. The other seemed more about "look at me" instead of "listen to me." Both of them actually reminded me of Pink's ""Try" video. I think you've got something though. Looking forward to hearing more.

Just curious how Nashville's treating you. Are you playing all the usual venues like the Bluebird?

I am not a fan of country music but maybe the body painting fits the Lady Gaga mold? Maybe boyfriend should be shirtless hot cowboy driving pick up truck instead? icon_confused.gif

That's why alt-country and Americana exist.

Check out our first video for "This Is Me Trying" - would probably be more up the alley you're referring to, about gay love (heartbreak in this case) but just a super emotional video.

@ELN, those 5 things (well, 1-4 at least) are exactly what we're avoiding..mainstream Country radio is horrible right now, we instead get influence from Hank Williams Sr., Blues, etc. Like DefensiveEnd said, Alt-Country / Americana. I would also not consider Lady Gaga's "You And I" as either of those...

Nashville is going pretty well, though it's extremely tough (especially for stuff like this). The lead singer Kevin has been on the roller coaster for 20 years now. I've personally played at Bluebird and other venues like that with my own stuff, yeah. Tough city, but I love it. Thanks for asking!
