I have something called: PUP.Optional.WinYahoo on one of my computers. I have tried to get rid of it with Malwarebytes, CCleaner and it just keeps coming back.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of it for good?

What do you mean "keeps coming back"? With nothing else running? I don't use Windows, but my knee-jerk reaction would be to try removing it in safe mode with nothing else running, see if I can observe several clean scans in a row, and isolate what action brings it back (launching a particular browser, visiting a certain page, etc.)

Looks like Malwarebytes only recently observed this one, so maybe a forthcoming update will improve removal.

You may also want to search the registry and/or filesystem for the MD5 or relevant strings from if you haven't already, but I doubt that will turn up anything your malware cleaner hasn't already.

Thanks. Yay! I finally figured it out. There was a line of code tied to a link to the yahoo search engine within Chrome. I tried to manually delete it but it came back. I found it in the Chrome settings under the Startup Page setting that I was not even using and removed it from there. I doubt that it would have caused any problems but it is gone now. icon_smile.gif
