Yup, still happening. I don't want ot start judging since I understand he is under shame but saying all of this isn't OK and then go and say you're a top.

Good looking guy but what a massive idiot he is. I believe men who are "straight" that always bash gay ppl are suspect.

MotelWrestler saidHaving come from a very Baptist background, I know what damage a judgemental pastor can do to people who are simply being the person that they were born to be. But there's something even worse about a hypocrite, much worse.

Definitely. A lower form of life than this guy would be hard to think of.

For what it's worth, his anti-gay church has already fired him, so in addition to looking for man-sex, he'll have to start looking for a job. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I'm glad when men like him get exposed. But at the same time I feel sorry for him. It will take him years to get over his self loathing. He will 'repent' and go to therapy for awhile. He will keep bumbling along desperately trying to be straight, lying to himself and those who love him. Eventually he will come out and leave his wife. Who will be hurt and betrayed. Hopefully he doesn't catch and pass on any nasty STDs.
Men like him need compassion. I don't mean to excuse what he's doing, he deserves to be outed. But gloating isn't helpful.

Meh, he's hot. I'd do him.

Then beat the fuck out of him while he's cumming just for all the damage he's done with his position. icon_evil.gif

    article:
But his community also deserves to know. If Makela made even one LGBT kid at St. John’s “Christ-based” elementary school, their parents, friends, family or anyone who ever stepped foot in the church feel like being true to yourself is shameful (and it seems all too likely that he did), then we’re glad to share his hypocrisy with the world.

I can see two valid reasons for ever outing. If a hypocrite is damaging community, then by outing stop him. Perfectly valid.

The second reason would be to help heal damage done by the authoritative hypocrite. For the outing to be applied in earnest, not in vindictiveness which wouldn't be healing, motivation must be not merely informing community to punish the guy but to raise consciousness, to light the world with awareness, to bring about understanding, especially for those who took a pastor's words to heart or those hurt by a legislator's laws.

So outing ought to be about stopping further damage and repairing damage done. Not about creating more damage. There's already enough pain in the world.

Well said!!! We should have good will especially to the ill (like this pastor), he is paying the price as he deserves to and should, but we should hope for his reformation after all of this, not destruction. As someone who is closeted and trapped in such a culture, I understand how hard it is living a double life (not right or excusable for him to preach bigotry, but none of us walked in his shoes to know to not have any mercy).

I hope that he finds a nice guy who will hug him so tight all his pain will go away
then I want him to find the strength to stand up on his pulpit and tell his congregation that he was wrong that Jesus was right and we must love our fellow man

I agree with all of you. I understand he is under a lot of pressure right now and he may or may not go to therapy. i don't mean to defend him or anything but can't just imagine how horrible is to talk against homosecuality and be into it, that's awful and horrible and insane.

Maybe we'll see him here at RealJock.com.

Yet another sanctimonious hypocrite. This one was dumb enough to be outted so easily. It makes me wonder how many more are still lurking out there, still preaching hate and intolerance, but who secretly "lust" for others of their own gender?

Shame is a horrible thing. I've seen it destroy lives. But I have little sympathy for hypocrites like Makela because not only do they shame themselves but they use shame to destroy others' chances for happiness.

If there's one type of guy who gets unilateral scorn on RJ, it's dudes like this one.

A side question, professing my own ignorance on religious denominations. What's the deal with the "Missouri" Synod, the one whose Michigan church Pastor Grindr-Man leads? A group from one state gets to run the churches in other ones? How does that work?

    http://www.wnem.com/story/29118198/mother-of-gay-son-speaks-out-about-midland-pastor-who-resigned-following-sin

One mom's not so thrilled with "The Cuddler".

WNEM-TV (Flint, Mich.)A mother came forward with new accusations against the local pastor who resigned after being outed as gay. She said what that pastor told her son nearly drove him to suicide.

Jennifer Kish is angered over the recent revelation that Matthew Makela might be gay, not because of his alleged sexual preference, but because of how he treated her son while they were parishioners at his church.

Makela is a Midland pastor who resigned after being outed by a website. The website said it outed Makela because of his outspoken stance in recent years against homosexuality, a stance one woman said was particularly harmful to her family.

Kish said her then 17-year-old son Tyler suffered from serious depression and was considering suicide because he was told by Makela he was going to hell because he was gay. "If he's going to hell for being gay then he might as well commit suicide," Kish said.

Kish said the pastor also became vocal on social media about how he felt her son being gay was wrong and that as a parent she shouldn't support him.

She said she confronted pastor Makela about the message he was sending her son and every other young gay person.

"Kinda set me into action, tell him what he could have done, other kids didn't have a support system like Tyler had," Kish said.

TV5 could not reach Makela for comment on the matter, but St. John's released a statement saying they are aware the pastor's sin is out there for everyone to see. They want to remind people this was never about the details of the sin and they don't matter. The statement goes on to say "we are hurting, but the God who is faithful will not forsake us."
