Is anyone trying it out? I've thought about it, but I'm scared to take the risk.
How do you like it, and what do you think should be different? I know it's still in beta and things could change, but what are your opinions?

Vista was a little bit of a disappointment for me. I was really excited for it too! I'm hoping Microsoft makes a comeback cause right now I'm a Mac, and I love it! But I like PC's too... for right now.

Funny, everyone that switches to Mac says they'll never go back to Windows. Must be the mind control drugs they spray on the keyboard. I think the one exception is one of my co-workers. He bought a Mac. Used it for a year and didn't think it lived up to the hype.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to Windows 7. It's what Vista should have been in the first place. So I guess we can call it Vista Service Pack 3, or Vista Mojave Edition. icon_lol.gif

But from what I've seen so far, Windows 7, particularly Media Center Edition, looks good. And I'll be getting it for my next HTPC build. I'm still using XP Pro and MCE 2005.

I didn't download the beta but they extended the download date. So get it now. You can always dual boot Windows 7 on your Mac or Windows box. That way you won't risk losing anything.

It is ok... I had a little problem trying to install Windows 7 and many people as well, apparently it gives error with some motherboards holding 4GB of RAM memory, I had to take one of my memories off, restart my computer and it worked, then I had to turn my computer back off put the memory back and it was back running with 4GB. I just thought it was a bad start for this beta release.

It doesnt represent a boost in performance so far, it consumes as much RAM as vista and takes up more hard drive space.

It does have most of the drivers I didnt have to download a single driver for my HP Pavillion Media Center. Even the internet was working right away.

Overall it seems ok, pretty similar to Vista in appearance, it is using the same vista kernel, just some slight changes in the usability and the way your windows are organized in the start bar. Less annoying than vista for sure, at least it doesnt scream "DONT TOUCH MEEEE" every second you click on something which makes it more comfortable.

I would say its fine, but its nor worth the hype. Its just a really big Service Pack 2. Its still beta though. Lets see if it gets better...

I downloaded it from the developer's newsletter. It crashed and burned when I went to unpack it on my AMD 3500+ 64bit, with heavy resources.

I may go after it again.

    We'll see.

    Not a good sign.

I've been thinking about uhm...."acquiring" Vista for some time now.

was wondering if it was worth it; Britney seems to like it.

it is better than Vista, but its a beta, it'll expire on august so you have to be careful with that. I installed it in a different hard drive so i could keep Vista just in case. Again its a Beta, but if you get it installed, itll be fine, you just have to keep in mind that youre gonna have to buy it once it expires.
