Maybe moving to Miami?

This fall I may be moving to Miami, FL. Besides the overtly hot summers, I've heard that the gay men there are incredibly pretentious and full of themselves. Is this just a stereotype of gay men down there or is it for the most part true?

This truly does affect my decision in moving there or not.

There are pretentious, full of themselves guys everywhere you go. But then there are a handful of good guys too. Form a friendship with those guys and have fun!

The summers are actually not that hot, although somewhat humid. Depends on your previous point of reference.

Miami is not a good gay scene, if that's part of your objective. Nor is Miami Beach, a totally different city, the one that's on the ocean. Disregard the movie The Birdcage, Miami Beach being nothing remotely like that today.

Also disregard southbeach1500. Who likely doesn't even live here, isn't gay, and will not give you any functional advice.

Pertinent questions I would ask you are what work or eduction are you seeking. That would determine where you should live.

There you go again.... derailing an innocent bystander's topic once again due to your obsession with me.

So if I don't live in Miami, where DO I live Kolonel KooKoo????

As for your constant claim that I am not gay and am a Republican "plant" on the site, many of us just chalk that up to alcohol-fueled delusions on your part.

I derailed nothing. I answered him.

YOU are attempting to derail a gay thread, as you always do. And no one does know where you really live. And yah know what? No one really cares. icon_razz.gif

I think you say you live in Miami. Not Miami Beach on the beach, but the city on the Bay. What can you tell the OP?

I would have to agree with this.
I've been to Ft. Lauderdale and LOVED it. Plan on moving there---hopefully soon!
I stayed in Miami Beach and Loved it as well.
Take a trip down and get a feel for it, if you haven't been.

"I've heard that the gay men there are incredibly pretentious and full of themselves"

After 30 years in SoCal and back here for four, I'd say it's worse right here.

If you can stand the homosexual scene in Columbus, you should be fine anywhere else. It wasn't always like this here and a big bunch of fun 40 years ago or so.
