    Hey guys,

I'm just curious if anyone has stayed at any of the gay resorts in Fort Lauderdale? I'm lookin at going down for the Winter Party or maybe just a weekend get a way. Currently cosnidering the Grand Resort and Villa Venice.

Any advice, expereince, comments and tips are appreciated

It depends on your preference. The Grand is larger with an open pool/sundeck and a rear courtyard with a hot tub that is clothing optional. Villa Venice is more private and the pool/sundeck/hot tub area is clothing optional.

They are both great choices but I prefer the VV because of the decor and the pool area. Good luck!

I'm taking 20 gay guys to the Alhambra Beach Resort near Sebastian Beach again this March...great place, cute, well-appointed, simple, clean, great service, cozy, newly renovated:

I live near all of them. Both your choices would be fine. Most of the gay resorts within walking distance of Sebastian Beach are along North Birch Road, or on cross streets.

Please let me know when you're down here, we'd would enjoy meeting you on the beach or for drinks. The best gay nightclubs are in Wilton Manors, just a few miles from the resorts. We'd be pleased to be your guides. And you could see my red Vespa! LOL!

Oh, and in planning your visit, do consult Mark's List for everything gay in South Florida. Mark really does exist, a lovely guy we know. Also Peter of the monthly Gay Tea Cruise is a friend of ours, and George of Georgie's Alibi... well, actually we know tons of guys who own clubs & resorts, and some girls, too (if you wanna try a lesbian bar). Just let us know.

I have been to Villa Venice several times and like it a lot. It was renovated within the last 5 years and is well-kept. The pool and hot tub are nice. The daily continental breakfast is certainly enough to get the day started. It's not as chi-chi as the Royal Palms right across the street.

Sebastian Beach is pure gay. Jefferson House is blocks from the beach, where it isn't very gay at all. And few gay places left anywhere on South Beach. The Art Deco District there is worth a day trip, and the shops on Lincoln Road, but little else to do there for a gay man. The focus has moved since the movie The Birdcage was made.

    The Royal Palms.

My work involves hospitality -- this place is excellent on many levels.

Having lived in Fort Lauderdale for many years and seen just about all of them first hand
    There's plenty to choose from
and it'll all depend on what you like in a hotel and your pocket book
some of them cater to the high end and some are just your average gay motel
    Here's a link to FTL's gay rag
It'll have descriptions, locations along with contact information for you

Have stayed at the Grand Resort my last few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The manager, Peter, is a great accomodating host. They get a nice clientele and have met some really nice people there.
