...These trends show not only that Americans as a whole have become less likely to identify as social or economic conservatives, but also that Republicans' views are changing along the same lines.

USA TODAY, yesterday and probably tomorrow--Republicans have been gathering en masse to counter the charge that their conservative base is shrinking. Efforts of revisionism are in full swing as Republicans deny deny deny their dwindling weight on their most beloved issues by eating more more more.

In a public relations scramble to downplay the scandal, Republicans have redoubled both their big macs and their efforts to prove there's no shrinkage whatsoever by parading in front of God's eyes and everyone's the fattest Republican states of the union.

If the GOP wants to remain a powerful, viable force in this country's political life, it is going to have to permanently abandon all these right wing cultural warriors and become much more moderate and centrist on social issues. Otherwise it is going to look like a political party that is completely out of touch and that will only bring on rapid decline and the US will become a one political party nation-state which is tantamount to eventual dictatorship.

Socially conservative Republicans at 10-year low

PRINCETON, N.J. (Christian Examiner) – Republican candidates may find it significantly harder to be elected to office...

...Younger Republicans tend to be socially moderate – even liberal*...

The Republican Party Platform contains a section which reads: "The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society...we believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage..."

That ship has sailed. Why do you think the Republicans posting in these forums can only come up with negative 'quotes' about the Dems, as opposed to positive stories about the GOP? It is because their own Party has nothing better to offer.
