Washington (CNN) President Barack Obama's job approval numbers are sinking as American attitudes about the nation's progress have taken a turn for the worse, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

A majority of the public once again say things in the U.S. are going pretty badly and disapproval of Obama's job performance has climbed back above 50% as well.

In fact, former President George W. Bush is more popular than Obama.
    ........
Americans view the sitting president less positively than all of his predecessors. The public is split 49% favorable to 49% unfavorable on Obama, a bit worse than his 52% favorable to 46% unfavorable mark in March, but similar to other reads on his favorability in CNN/ORC polling throughout the last year.

[fair disclosure on RJ] The President's party continues to be more positively viewed than the GOP, according to the poll. Overall, 47% have a positive impression of the Democrats, 41% of the Republicans.

Warming on W.: More Americans like George W. Bush than dislike

Washington (CNN) The latest CNN/ORC Poll found warning signs for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, but for his brother, former President George W. Bush, the poll reveals some happier news: For the first time in a decade, more Americans say they like him than dislike him.

According to the poll, 52% of adults had a favorable impression of George W. Bush, 43% unfavorable. When Bush left office in 2009, only about a third of Americans said they had a positive opinion of him. In a February 2009 poll conducted about a month after he left office, Republicans were the only group among which a majority said they had a favorable view of Bush. Even among self-described conservatives, only 50% had a favorable take on the former president and champion of "compassionate conservatism."

southbeach1500 saidI wasn't even aware that they conducted such polls - was very surprised to see this.

This is just another example of the liberal left blowing out of proportion their "position" (i.e. everyone hates Bush and everyone love Obama) when the reality is just the opposite!

Maybe not quite the opposite, but a lot more respect for W now that folks have had a chance to compare and contrast.

The left continues to support Obama, though often only lukewarm, and continues to despise Bush. The study in the following link may suggest they believe more people agree with them than is true.

Extremists more willing to share ideas / believe more people agree with them than is true
