NYT: According to a search of the Miami-Dade and Duval County court dockets, the Rubios have been cited for numerous infractions over the years for incidents that included speeding, driving through red lights and careless driving. A review of records dating back to 1997 shows that the couple had a combined 17 citations: Mr. Rubio with four and his wife with 13. On four separate occasions they agreed to attend remedial driving school after a violation.

Mr. Rubio’s troubles behind the wheel predate his days in politics. In 1997, when he was cited for careless driving by a Florida Highway Patrol officer, he was fined and took voluntary driving classes. A dozen years later, in 2009, he was ticketed for speeding on a highway in Duval County and found himself back in driver improvement school.

    A little clarification in order.

    Marco = 4 tickets in 18 years

    Wife = 13 tickets in 18 years

Not since they entered the White House. Otherwise, all I ever see any US Presidents personally driving are golf carts.

An exception would be Lyndon Johnson, on his Texas ranch. Security simply doesn't allow US Presidents to drive openly and without escort on public roads.

Regardless of count, apparently they were serious enough to require attending driving school.

    And again, wrong

"On four separate occasions they agreed to attend remedial driving school after a violation."

"he was fined and took voluntary driving classes
    "

This was a way to prevent points accumulation just as we had In Cali. You could go every 18 months, but had to pay a school fee and the cost of the ticket, but no points.

I haven't had a ticket since 1997, but knew the system very well prior to that. Almost all of my tickets for 69 in a 55 zone. And it was a lot of tickets.

The real serious stuff wasn't eligible for traffic school .... DUI, drag racing, reckless op, etc.

It's not simply how many times they got caught.

It's what are the odds of ever getting caught X's how often they thought themselves above the law.

And this wasn't just speeding on interstates where pretty much everyone speeds just in keeping up with the flow of traffic. This was violating laws of safety on surface roads in neighborhoods where they'd be more likely to endanger life and limb.

Despite what the Rubio apologists here claim, those traffic violations are indeed "serious enough" as I stated to qualify for driving school in order to avoid driver's points. I do indeed live here in Florida, unlike some of these pretenders who may at most have visited Florida on a vacation.

And a number of RJ guys have met me in person here, along with my husband. Whereas no one on RJ has ever seen these trolls in Florida, despite what they may claim on their profiles. In fact, has anyone ever met them at all, anywhere?

That alone really tells you all you need to know. icon_biggrin.gif

The Skunkspeare is just pissed that I caught him trying to pass off complete liberal bullshit lies as fact... again.

He quoted a bullshit source of three blogs telling about Nixon saying Barbara Bush was a woman who knows how to hate.

If that had been said by Nixon it would have been in at least half the papers in the US... but it fit his idiotic narrative so he ran with it like it was true.

LOL... I feel blessed. I've been driving 50 years and had two tickets for the same thing in two states on the same day. I had a tail light that was out. I got it fixed when I was ready to head back, stopped at both police stations and they tore up the tickets.

Never had a wreck that was my fault either.

Despite what the Rubio haters here claim, minor violations or what are known as infractions. Big ticket stuff is not eligible unless you have a really kind judge.

I did the same every chance I got in California, and prior to the NMSL being lifted in 1996, I had a boat load of speeding tickets.

But little of this compare and contrast matters anyway because the same rules evidently don't apply to Hillary

She had a good excuse though 'late to a dinner party'

And not that I really care because I don't think there needs to be speed limits on many or most rural interstates anyway.

how do you know that he was driving and didn't have the car in park when the picture was taken?

That was on his ranch on private property.

"Crawford, TX - President George Bush was caught on tape Sunday driving his pick-up truck in Crawford, Texas without a seatbelt.

The tape shows the president casually cruising on his ranch in his white Ford pick-up truck with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer in the passenger seat. Bush smiles for the camera, his seatbelt visibly unbuckled.

In Texas, it is illegal to drive on public roadways without a seatbelt. However, the law is different on private property.

“If he was on private property, he was not breaking the law,” said Tom Vinger, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety."

The real story is the uncovering of how the NY Times does its basic research for its stories.

I suppose the NYT's shrinking subscription base and pressure from the internet has forced them to start taking research information from politcal PAC's.

Rubio had 4 citation going back to 1997. Really? the only thing it proves is maybe he is closer to a real citizen then say someone who has been driven around by a chauffeur since 1990 at the very least. Does anyone actually think the self described destitute Hillary Clinton drives herself around?

So 4 traffic tickets is newsworthy over 18 years?

What the hell does his wife's traffic tickets have to do with him and his running for office?

In my mind the only way this could has qualified as a story was if Rubio used influence to erase the records in some way.

As a practical matter , is this information going to dissuade a undecided voter from taking a look at Rubio? I think not. Is it raw meat for progressives , yes.
