61 Democrats Write Letter To Obama Asking For Executive Action Protecting LGBT People Overseas

“We write to encourage you to take additional steps to ensure U.S. funds are not used to subsidize LGBT discrimination at home or abroad.”

Let's hope he goes for it. It would be nice to see the US stop giving financial support to countries that actively discriminate against us (ie. LGBT people).

Wow, its getting more complicated than I thought.

Of the 28,000 federal contractors, am sure many of them do joint business overseas. I am not sure how this would work in places like our friends in Saudi Arabia. They may be our allies in war efforts and shared money, but we definitely have different cultures. Not sure how they would feel having this cultural restriction placed on them even though one or more of American contractors does business in that country. Israel, I am sure would have no problem with it. icon_neutral.gif

It would be like ExxonMobile, where they were forced to comply or lose major contract money. I say take a wait and see but definitely the president should decide before the end of his term.

This little-noticed item is so incredibly important, and some of us have been arguing for this for years.

Here in the Philippines, I am right now having to use a VPN to make this comment, as the Philippines Government blocks any ISP from providing access to a number of sites including.... RJ (amazingly! What a threat we must be!).

This country's broadband internet infrastructure is being paid for, to a great extent by.... that's right, U.S. taxpayer's money.

No diplomat, foreign aid worker, or any other foreigner here will have their valid "same-sex marriage certificate" recognized by this government: Your spouse would have to live here as a tourist, while you held a government visa, or not join you at all.

Fine: Does the United States recognize as "valid" the marriage certificate between the Filipino consul-general in LA...and his "spouse"? Two can play this game... and we ought to be playing it, and as in hardball.

LGBT discrimination? How about protection from execution?

Here's Obama with his "Good Friend" the Sultan of Brunei who passed a law to execute gays by stoning to death. Obama rewarded the Sultan with a free trade deal.

Hillary has accepted large sums of money from the Sultan:

61 Democrats, but no Republicans, I presume? Why would US Republicans ever be concerned about protecting LGBT? They'd rather see us all dead and gone. icon_razz.gif

Where's the list of Republicans who were invited?

Why didn't ALL the democrats sign?

There are hundreds of Democrats in the House and Senate.

The Executioner and Chief Obama was asked a year ago by LGBT groups to stop dealing with the Satan of Brunei but has moved forward with the trade deal:

The Satan of Brunei is worth 20 Billion dollars and owns 600 Rolls Royces as reported by Time and Forbes. The Satan of Brunei is the #2 wealthiest royal on the planet.

Well Liberals, so much for supporting middle and lower income Americans.

Why should the Satan Of Brunei get a discount on American made body bags to stuff dead gays into.
