    They don't enforce the limits now, so this is much ado about nothing. What they do now is, SOMETIMES, they'll say "look, you guys have carry ons, but they can't fit in the cabin. Put a tag on it and walk down the ramp, feet before stepping on the plane just drop your bag and we'll place it in a special area underneath. You can claim your bag as you exit the plane, feet from the door."

    That's how it's done. It precludes lost luggage, but doesn't overcram the little bins. Win, win, win. I see no problem with how it is now.

    It's just another way to make an extra few dollars. Like charging for the exit row. They never used to do that.

    And you get checked baggage for free. They should charge people $100 that do that.
