    THE EDITOR, Sir:

Homosexuality - the female form of which is lesbianism - is not sex at all. A popular dictionary defines sex between humans as copulation: the physical union of a male and a female person. In addition, sex is never described as anal. Instead it involves the male penis penetrating the female vagina. According to Dr Kay Bailey, paediatrician and JCHS director, in an article dated July 21, 2013 "... The intestine is not a sex organ ... ."

I think even when there is legislation that makes same sex relations legal in Jamaica, there will need to be a huge investment in educating the population which remains staunchly on the wrong side of history.

Another function of the prostate that is being discovered by more and more men is self prostate milking or prostate stimulation. Men have discovered that prostate stimulation, if done properly, can provide a stimulating sexual experience that sometimes leads to orgasm

The question is can legislation be passed without more support of the populace. Jamaica needs to make sure that there are people working to educate them....like organizations like the HRC, PFLAG, etc. did in the US.

What the Prime Minister has said in the past about repealing the buggery law, it will have to be a conscience vote. Meaning, each member of parliament will first have to consult with their constituents then make a decision based on that.

Its wishful thinking but considering these are well educated politicians who have traveled, studied abroad, liaison with Government officials from countries such as US, UK, Canada that support and promote tolerant societies I think they would weigh in the best interest of the minority.

Not saying it will happen on the first try, but with education and international pressure, a change will come.

I invest enough energy into American politics and with all our advantages (literacy, media, education, money, etc.) we're just making headway in the United States. I seriously don't have the energy to fight for my fellow brother in another country with its own intricate laws. Let it burn, I have no more time and money to give.

no, they don't and besides, jamaica to the eyes of groups like HRC, PFLAG and etc that basically is controlled by the same bigoted, hypocritical, victimizer but wannabe victim white guys basically pulling the race card all the time, it's not white enough. the lgbtq people in those places don't matter to them. they treat them as pawns to help further THEIR own self interest such as being able to vacation on the island.

i really don't have any respect for those organizations because they ain't about helping gay people.

You are misunderstand what I was saying. I'm saying that Jamaica needs similar organizations, not those organizations. There needs to be groups in Jamaica...call it what ever they want...that will work to educate the public. Without the education, I don't see how they will be able to get enough support to get rid of those laws. And you many not have any respect for those organizations but those organizations did help push for change. Organizations like PFLAG gave parents and children a place to go learn more about it when they were dealing with it. They didn't have to feel like they were on their own. On the other hand, staring a PFLAG organization in Jamaica would not be a bad idea. With the HRC, obviously they need to clean house before considering doing something like that. I don't think that it is necessary to throw the organization out. It is a powerful organization. It would be better to change the organization from within. That they created the study that showed where they are having problems and created a plan to fix those issues is a good thing.

There are organizations like JFLAG and Jamaicans for Justice that are at the forefront of trying educate the population about the LGBT community. There are some smaller ones. To be honest with you, they have a lot of obstacles in front of them, the church being the biggest.

JFJ tried to introduce programs into foster homes to teach children about abuse, different types of sexual behaviors vaginal, oral and anal sex. It exploded in their faces when it was twisted as the Western LGBT influences trying to indoctrinate Jamaican children into believing homosexuality is ok.

It was a major issue and caused the former head of the JFJ to resign. Its a huge setback. Even the Minister of Youth and Culture came out against what the JFJ did and started an investigation

I don't know what JFLAG can even do, its a one man show and many gay men I have spoken to said they are really not that helpful, but then again, when its one person, what can you do. There is a symposium each year focusing on improving tolerance, but its not really effective.

Dwaynes House is another one, but I sense fraud behind that.
