If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which would you choose?

Oh that's easy ... Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini.

What absolutely everyone I know would guess that I'd pick.

It didn't become a TV Show, but after Battlestar Galactica.

Ron Moore made a pilot with many of the same actors and actresses called [17th Precinct]

A trailer describing the background of the plot is still on YouTube https://youtu.be/_fg3dB5Q2tU

Basically the world is run by magic and mysticism not science and they found some pretty clever ways to make it all seem believable.

But its alternative history, somewhere back in the days of the Ancient Greeks a fanatical secret sect called the "Stoics" who practiced and investigated the dark arts of "Science" and "Predictabilty" took a different path than they did in our history. They're supposed to be extinct.. but something is causing their rules and bylaws of their magical world to breakdown and become questionable.. could it be the Stoics survived? Or perhaps the Stoics left this plane of existence and merely stepped next door into another reality.. and now they're coming back?

It would be fun to explore and live in that world for a little while.. certainly less formulaic than what we expect from the everyday.

I would go on The Love Boat and spend my days with Charo and other stars that were on it (http://www.imdb.com/list/ls003505129/)visiting the various islands. icon_smile.gif

    Or maybe Little Britain

Good call! But original or TNG? I love the original, but I have a man crush on Captain Picard icon_cool.gif

Tough one - Star Trek would be fun...but to make it last, I'd take Doctor Who - that way my month could last 20 years in non-linear time icon_smile.gif

I like Picard (not romantically...not my type) but it would have to be the original series. That's what hooked me.

As much as I really like Star Trek and Dr Who, the old and new versions.. they always seem to follow a recipe thats very predictable.

Maybe they would be great for a visit.. but not for long, hanging around for re-runs for 50-60 years could become a drag.

What I could take from each of those is the [work the problem] or [limitless] way of looking at the world, not getting hung up in the impossible.. just doing.. never saying [no]

In those ways the world of MacGyver or Stargate(s) series would be a lot more fun.. pushing the limits... even the newer Outer Limits series

Sadly all of those even the Stargates ran out of steam and resorted to formulaic (self limiting) story ideas. They eventually imposed limits on their imaginations and declined until we were left with.. why are we still doing this?

Take Star Trek.. instead of continuing it into the 70's, or rebooting it like JJ-09 did they should have done what DS9 did.. maybe sunset the old series.. and head back to a series at Star Fleet Headquarters.. or the Far Flung deep space survey group.. or the Stellar Mechanics and Engineering Corps.. different aspects of their world or society.. bring along a contemporary (like they did with Worf) as an introduction.. then swing for the fences.

Stargate should have brought in the Ancients old and new and run into culture clashes.. or turned them into maybe not villians but pompus parents that at first wouldn't cooperate and then learned to play nice.. maybe at conflict with their Ascended members as if they were DUI offenders in our own galaxy. SG Universe should have turned villianous people into "likeable" people in conflict.. but eventually somewhat cooperative.. and not gotten home.. but dropped off along the way.. gained new members from the peoples they met.. and been more hard core stellar civilization building.. maybe got an Ancient crewmember who gated in from home to explain things and restart the mission.

.. but i go on.. would be nice to write for these series.
