Back in 1972 I joined a Lifesaving Club, and passed the theory and practical test to qualify as a lifeguard, which I did as a full time paid job for a few months in 1973. It was fun, although at times a little monotonous walking round and round the poolside, blowing a whistle from time to time when I see someone jeapardising the safety of another. Yet what fun it was to dive in when someone was in trouble!
But my qualification was mediocre compared to another lifesaver who liked me. He had the Award of Distinction, the only member of the club to hold such a title, which is the highest award the RLSS can offer. He was Gay, and I alone knew of it.

Beach lifeguard while doing my undergrad. I don;' know if I would go as so far to say it was fun to dive in when someone was in trouble . It was definitely an endorphin/adrenalin rush. It would always catch me by surprise. - it did help prepare me for later in life to run a "crash cart" and follow advanced life support protocols while working in a hospital.

I did all the training but was only ever a lifeguard on lakes and ponds (and some river canoe trips). I decided beaches and waterparks were too stressful.

I did the ocean lifeguarding for a few years as well as some lakes.. I currently work at a pool teaching swim lessons and guarding.. Also, I hold instructor cards in lifeguard training and the courses associated with it.. I've been in this profession for quite some time and still enjoy being invovled in teaching other to either swim or become lifeguards...

Working in this field has inspired me to become an EMT and working on getting my cardiac license as well as working on getting on an F.D. either local or long distance... Am thinking of moving down south for a change in location..though that thought is still in the air..

I was a lifeguard from my senior year in high school through college -- pool and beach. It was a great job -- I was rarely bored...

I'm a lifeguard at a local state park. I work off the side of a lake. It is always interesting to say the least. I really enjoy my job. Oh yea, and I'm the lifeguard manager now!

I was a lifeguard back in the 80's at a swimming pool. It was a great time. I loved soaking up the sun and forgetting about the long winters. I had a lot of hot, mostly naked co-workers. We were always skinny-dipping after hours.

But it was frustrating because I was the only homo. I never got to act on any urges and I was always thinking up excuses to not date the girls who liked me.

Now I'm white as a sheet and my skin is wrecked. But I had some great times.
