Okay, my title is a tad facetious but I have yet to meet one that wasn't really cool (and more than often hot as hell!) So don't bother posting videos of Australians doing bad things. I realize they exist, but I have yet to meet one.We have always gotten a lot of Aussie visitors where I live but lately they must have some kind of airfare deal going because I'm meeting even more these days. They just walk right up to you and make friends in a heartbeat and are so genuine. I'm starting to develop a fetish for that accent and rugged good looks.

Well, they have great accents. And a lot of the hunky ones are very attractive. But no, not all aussies are awesome. having spent a couple nights in a boondocks motel with bar that was full of itinerant sheep shearers, I can vouch for the truth of the statement that a lot of aussie men are definitely not awesome, nor anything like it, even though there was a lot of testosterone in the bar.

They are cool and are very uninhibited, unlike here in the USA.
When I run into one we always have a nice conversation. They love the water and tight swim suits.

I could imagine. I don't know what it is with us and alcohol...so many of us seem to know our limits but we go passed them every time we drink. I black out every single time I drink. I've never been able to have a few casual drinks at a bar or a party. I always end up binge-drinking and getting smashed. No matter how much I tell myself to drink water in between drinks or not predrink or eat lots of food, it always ends up happening. And when I've woken up after a party or after a night out clubbing and there's still alcohol around, my first instinct is to keep drinking. Either to get rid of the hangover or because I'm still drunk or I just want to get that feeling back. I have a really addictive personality. My brother's exactly the same.

So now I just don't drink. I can't handle it. I would always say/do inappropriate things, make an arse of myself, have no memory of the entire night and regret it so badly for weeks afterwards. I have really bad rumination from past experiences with alcohol where I just dwell on those memories and play them on repeat in my head, even for alcohol-related experiences that happened to me years ago.

I'm the sort of person who would become a junkie if I fell in with the wrong crowd or made some bad life choices so I find it's just easier channel my addictive behaviour in to fitness.

Yes, I've noticed you guys really like to drink. I guess that's what attracts most Australians to New Orleans. But I've yet to see one that wasn't a pleasant drunk.

Kudos for having stopped drinking. And from the looks of your pic, before you took them all private, your addiction to fitness is paying off.

We Aussies are mostly more relaxed than you Yankees , and we do not drink more than our Americans counterpart ..lol...
I have been sharing my life between Australia and America for the last 25 years ( American ex-wife and employer ) and i find the 2 countries very similar when it comes to people , you find great ones and shitty ones in both , but i will say that we are more uninhibited than Americans are , we express freely our opinion .
Are we all hot and sexy , NO we aren't ...lol....

Though I have had lots of contacts with the Aussie guys in business over a few years, and have my ideas about them, I cannot honestly say that my experience encompasses ALL the Aussies. I doubt that anyone can say this.

IMHE, the guys are a bit more relaxed. They have a cute accent, too.

Some are very hottt. And quite a few are OK, and many are noticon_sad.gif.

They seem to take a degree of discomfort, heat, cold, physical effort, etc., without much grumble. Very much unlike their US counterparts.

On the other hand, if compared with the US, Aussies are mostly influenced by the culture of scarcity. Spending comes as a major core to them, and counting pennies seems to be the norm among them. When it comes to the commercial part, the US folks seem to be far more laid back. We are going to work it out, one way or the other... The Aussies tend to panic to the point of showing aggression.

Who is a better ambassador of their country when they travel abroad? The Americans win by a wide margin, in my books, that is.

Not really - but they are very welcoming people - some guys are hot, some arent - depend of taste tho - Being a country of immigration, lots of different origin, culture, and guys type ... love it there , cause the weather makes guys wearing boardies and nothing else all the time icon_smile.gif

I find the whole inception of England's colonization of Australia quite fascinating. It was basically a dumping ground for England's convicts. That has, in effect, played a substantial role in the development of Australia's culture.

Yes, that's true. But the reason England started sending convicts to Australia in the first place is because after the revolution, they had to quit sending them America. Georgia also started out as a prison colony.

I've spent a lot of time in Australia, for work and vacation. By and large I find Aussies to be great people - outgoing, welcoming, fun, and quite often hot as fuck. And they brew some great beers (Foster's isn't one of them).

Spent 6 weeks in Australia a few years ago and loved it. It's a beautiful country and by and large the people are great, but as with anywhere some were dickheads... some were super bogan, some weren't. I noticed the women seemed more manly and "tough" than ur average american woman. ...like they're not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get dirty..

This would explain why they love to visit New Orleans. It's probably the only other place in the world that gives them a run for their money. icon_biggrin.gif

    Kiwis refer New Zealanders.

For those who are unfamiliar with the history, culture and English accents between 'Straya and NZ. It's easy to mix them up! Think how some people often mix up Canadians and Americans. ;)
